Behind Your Eyes

I saw a rose

As the days go by,

no matter how much time

has passed,

I still think of

how could you

be the one

to hurt me so

make me see

the evil that walks

cold shadows that loom

behind each bright smile.

If someone had told

of you in that way

I would have said

it was not so.

Not you

so genuine

in your eyes

of no sign

of hidden design

or driven malice.

The last to know

often learns to believe

and comes to know the best

too late

to save a heart

soon enough

to save the soul.

It is sad that those we trust, love and care for...are the traders, haters, and irresponsibles as exchange. Great job!!! Sharing your lovely sad words, hoping those that hurt may look at themselves as in a mirror. As well as hose that are hurt may know that they are not alone in their grief.

It is scary when you think someone is on your side to realize that they were never on your side.

That's a sad poem. It's so mean if you trust or love someone and he or she only pretends to be serious about you.

I think love blocks our judgment, not our vision. I think we see clearly enough, but do not want to accept what we see. I believe we go into denial about what we see because we want so much for the ideal in our minds to be true.

It can be very hard to move on when our overtures are rejected, but in the long run it is even harder when someone pretends to accept our overtures, because we want to believe their acceptance was as sincere as our offering, when it was not.

Sad and true. You captured the emotions of betrayal really well.

      Anna :)
