Being Thankful For All We Have Learned

Updated on July 7, 2013

Where Do We Begin

If this was a history lesson we would probably begin in Ancient Greece

Sitting in the back a math class I would be hearing all about the number line with positives and negatives

In a scence class the teacher would be talking about atoms

Then again an English class learning all about a verb

Now with most things in life you start at the beginning

Sometimes you start at the end and work your way forward

With life you start right dab in the middle and go in any direction

You hope you pick the path that works

I have found that years later you might just get the answer

Trying to figure out what we have learned and how much more can we still learn

For me I begin with people

I thank everyone who I have ever met

Who has taught me all the things I will never forget

There are so many people that think they just did it all themselves

With no help

They were born smart

Well for me it was just the opposite

I learned a little from everybody

Then I learned how to build on that

Taking their original thoughts and changing them just a tiny bit

Making them mine

This is one crazy world some might think

To me it's a world filled with so many ideas

Each bursting with flavor

Like the Jelly belly's jelly beans I love so much

As soon as I have one I can't wait to have another

Then another

Why would I stop with so much fun and excitement in every bite

There are so many people I have met over the years

I can't count them all

From my own parents to teachers

All my relatives who influenced me daily

Friends and neighbors

Strangers and coworkers

I was the little boy who use to say why?

I drove my poor dad crazy

Years later I am the man that asks how?

Many times I only get I don't know for an answer

My dad use to say you don't need to know

Maybe my dad had a plan

Because now things interested me even more

It pushed me on to explore

So this is where I say thank you for all the people who gave me the answers

Except for in French class that I failed anyway

For those who led me on to more questions

I congratulate you

For sparking my mind to dig a little deeper

If I could have one wish

It would be never to stop my quest for knowledge

So every day is more than a challenge

It is a right of passage that I participate and play

In hopes I can be an inspiration to others

So they may learn more than I ever knew

Just as interested and inspired

Sit with wild eyes and a curiosity that could kill a cat

Charlotte my cat didn't like that one

She wanted me to make a formal apology

I was only joking it is just an expression

I meant nothing by it

For a cat I sure got your goat

Dim Flaxenwick That's so nice of you. When you laugh I can hear you.It makes me so happy.I only write 3% of what I really want to say.I beat up myself for not doing more.My life really isn't that exciting and filled with no glamour or fame.I like the breath taking moments. This is good as it gets and if you haven't run away or left I am sure blessed. My life is a simple one with lots of love and a beginning and no end.I watch my step or some day I could be looking out instead of looking in.(lol)Thanx so much for reading, commenting and just saying hi.

YOU ARE an inspiration to me. Your writing never ceases to amaze me.

Every day you have something new to say. You also make me laugh and that is always a good thing.

      Take care and thank you.

Gypsy Rose Lee As people it is strange that it takes us so long to learn.People that drive drunk have one close call after another.Keep pushing the envelope until one day something really bad happens. If only once was enough. My Charlotte is a slow learner. She sits on the computer desk until she rolls over and falls off.Again and again. Then she looks at me what? Thanx so much for reading and commenting.

We are ever learning and adding to our knowledge as life goes on. As with people so with animals. You made me smile mentioning your cat Charlotte because every time my Sid learns an important lesson for him winding up in surprise that things took a turn for the worse. I tell you he never forgets and he never repeats that which once caused him fright or surprise.

This poem is very beautiful as you speak from your heart.

" In hopes I can be inspiration to others

So they may learn more than I ever knew"

These are very poignant words that are at the core of your character.

You have explored and learned from those who either gave you the answers when you asked "why" or showed you the way to finding them. You are now at the point of asking "how." Your practice of gratitude for those who helped you will bring you the answers and the help for for more and more things. Your story is inspiring. We all hope that others will surpass our knowledge and success.

Thanks for sharing your story by way of this beautiful poem. Voted up and beautiful and am sharing.
