Being an Author

The word "Author" brings limitless things to mind. Writing books, writing short stories or memoirs are all part of what an author does, depending on what they feel like. The list is limitless, I know that when people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up I always said that I wanted to be a writer. I wanted to be an author writing my own books and selling them. Being an author takes time, practice and dedication. Being an author can be done by anyone and it can be limitless. If you have a story idea and you think that it can be written into a book then why not give it a shot. I have been writing books for years, and I really enjoy it. I haven't gotten any further than writing them in rough, but it is still fun to do. You might be wondering if that constitutes calling you an author, well, in my opinion, I think so. If you want to write a book try it, I did and one day I will get them edited professionally and published. Even though I haven’t done that yet, that doesn’t mean that I am not an author it just means that I am an author in training. Which makes it sound better than just calling yourself a writer. But being an author takes a limitless amount of discipline in order to get the story out the way you want it and the description right that sort of thing.

Each year I try and write one novel, or novella, depending on the number of pages I put into the book. I have always loved writing since I was little, and I would get in trouble for writing at recess when I was a kid, but that never stopped me. As an author or writer would say when Ideas strike write them down and continue to write until the ideas stop coming which is what I did. Being an author the ideas for books and stories will come at any time, and then you write them down right. It can be at 6:00 a.m. when an idea strikes when that happens to you get up and write. Being an author means writing never stops unless you really want it too.

Being author isn’t just about writing the book or story. You also need to promote your book, have an agent, publishing company, one or more editors and a bit of money before you start in order to get it off the ground and if you need to travel you have to pay those expenses too. So being an author isn’t just bells and whistles, people don’t wake up one day and say hey I am going to write and make millions off of it. In order to make millions off your writing you have to practice have the right people behind, you as in an agent, editor, publishing company. Don’t forget ways to promote your book, which takes time and money. But everything takes money, doesn’t it?

Everyone has heard the saying, “It takes money to make money”, haven’t they? It is true in a sense. In order to get your book off the ground, you have to pay an editor and pay for promotional tools. You also need to be able to take criticism with a grain of salt. Which is called creative criticism which everyone gets throughout their, life? It just happens more so when you are an author or writer. People want to help us out and they do it through creative criticism.

I know a couple of authors who have looked at my work and given me some feedback, to help me out. Which I have taken as creative criticism, and am using it to better my writing. I have written a book a year, or novella, some people would call them for about nine years. Last year and this year are the only two years since I was thirteen that I haven’t actually written a book. I have been busy with the blog, instead and the books have been put on the back burner but I am planning on getting back into it soon. Before Christmas hopefully.

Writing As an Author

Being an author takes time dedication and perseverance. I say that it takes perseverance because it might not work out the way you want, at first. That doesn’t mean you give up if being an author is what you want to do, then do it just know that it is a long process but it will work out if you really want it too. Never give up on something that you want. That includes being an author, people might try and deter you, and give you creative criticism but that is because they are trying to help you succeed and that is what all authors want don’t they? Being an author is hard work but it is worth it.

Here is a list of a few of the books that I have written remember though they are not published, This is just six of them Which took me six years to write. What do you think of the titles?

Angelica

Sister

Tiny Dancer

The Love of the Game

Sacred Singer

Seclusion and Seduction

Writing can be limitless because anyone can write anything if they put their mind too, it memoirs, novels short stories the list goes on. If you really want to be an author give it a try, it can bring about limitless possibilities for writing if you try your hand at it. Have you ever tried your hand at writing a novel if so how do you like it? If not and you want to what is holding you back. Writing novels is so cool you get to transform yourself, into another world when you write about your story topic and characters.

Being an author is limitless because you can write anything in any genre or you can write a lot of books for one genre it's totally up to you which is why being an author can bring about a million or more possibilities.

Author's write

Being an author takes a limitless amount of time, but it can also be a limitless amount of fun. Put yourself, in the story you are trying to tell, and traveling to place or looking at pictures of the place in order to get even a little bit of the story told through them so you feel as though you are experiencing it and showing it through the story you are trying to tell. No matter what that story is. Being an author can bring limitless possibilities you can tell a story that just pops into your head a certain time and be in charge rather than having someone tell you what to do. You have a lot of control when writing if you are an author so if you want to be an author why not give it a try.

Are you an aspiring author? What do you write? Let's Discuss

For sure....write what you feel and think...for me I have found that the more I write the more easily it is for the words to find their way into print. As I say in many articles, the words do the job...I am only the vessel.

Best to you with your writing...hoping to see your works in novel form soon.

Angels are on the way to you this morning ps

I would say author and writer are at an equal level title wise, there's no better or worse title.

I was wondering the same thing recently, about what it takes to become a writer, how we live and how we work. I put it all into one of my own hubs, in poetry form. Maybe you will read it and see if you agree with my description?

We certainly all have one huge thing in common, a deep affection and passion for writing. :)

It seems that there are always barriers to entry in any field. However, by being patient, it can definitely become a worthwhile endeavor to become an author.
