Beloved Enemy...A poem

Updated on April 14, 2015
Source

There is something dangerous in your eyes

Something cold that hides behind your laughter

I can't tell between your truth or lies

Trapped here with my beloved captor

Your familiar touch sends shards of fear

Twisiting my gut as I force a broken smile

Do you ever hear my tears

As my soul you endlessly defile

Yet I always reach for you despite the pain

Eager to please my beloved enemy

Freedom a dream I won't attain

Trapped in this your warped fidelity

Held close with chains of hate and need

Locked in your never ending darkness

Every word an order I must heed

Your enslaved broken goddess

Love and obesession turned vile and dark

There is no escaping your deepest fantasy

breaking my mind and body apart

Both lost now in the grips of insanity

Truth or lie I no longer really care

Following always my beloved captor

No more heart left to despair

Nothing left but to trust the deceiver

I remember this event well, and wondering how could this happen for so many years without detection. I definitely want to read the book. Your words capture her life in captivity perfectly..Beautifully penned..Bravo

what she lived through was amazing and the strength it took to tell her own story with her own words is inspiring, I hope if anything I have done some justice to her story with my own simple words

Thank you so much, It was such a heart wrenching story that I couldn't but write about it in some way,

      Always Exploring

Some events shock us when we first hear about them, like when this story was first released by the media I remember so many people shocked and amazed that this could happen and be hidden so easily...

But after reading her story in her own words I was more amazed at the strength that this little girl had to not just survive but to care for others while being so badly used...

thank you so much for taking the time to read this but I cannot recommend her book enough, its an eye opening read,

Beautifully written poem. It was indeed a case of Stockholm syndrome and must have been extremely hard for her and her daughters.

      Thanks so much :)

Her story is quite heartbreaking , kidnapped as a child and kept as a sex slave in a criminals house for years before her and her children where discovered. Her story in her own words is what inspired this poem

Well, it seems I have a long way to go before I get to be at the mastery level of you, nighthag. You're vocabulary is what really made me read and reread your poem over and over again. You have such a way to pinpoint feelings and making them into words. I really do love your poetry, and you've inspired me to explore an edgier and darker side to my poetry. Awesome...just so good :)

Well written, tells a story, would you tell me if this poem is about an abusive relationship? That's what I took from it primarily, I like to see the meaning to writing, everything always has a meaning to it.

      thanks for asking :)

this is indeed about an abusive relationship, but primarily I was inspired to write this straight after reading the book A stolen life : a memoir

written by Jacyee Dugard about her experience of being kidnapped as a young girl and the years of abuse she experienced at the hands of her abuser.

I highly recommended the book written in her own words about her ordeal. there is a link above the comments just under the poem if you want to check it out. Its also available on itunes

thanks for stopping in, I am so glad that this poem made an impact...
