What is manga?

Manga is the Japanese form of comic books. It is read from back to front, right to left. It has amazing characters facing all sorts of problems and not only are the story lines good, but the detail in the frames are absolutely amazing!

There are many manga that have been turned into anime (animation).

The list includes: Pokemon, Digimon, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto, Full Metal Alchemist and Bleach to name but a few.

Manga is read by almost everyone in Japan including adults. Here in the Western world, the manga is adapted into English and somewhat censored according to age group. In Japan, the manga is published as is, no changes to pictures as this is written for adults.

Children have their own type of manga called Kodomomuke manga.
Manga intended for boys is called Shōnen manga.
Manga intended for girls is called Shōjo manga.
Manga intended for young men is called Seinen manga
Manga intended for young women is called Josei manga.

Themes of manga often include some of these: action-adventure, romance, sports and games, historical drama, comedy, science fiction and fantasy, mystery, and horror.

And so where can you actually read this manga for yourself? Well there are many sites. Some you can download chapters from like StopTazmo and others you can read online like OneManga or MangaFox. (due to possible violation of Terms of Service, I won't publish the links to these sites but a search engine will find them)

For StopTazmo, creating an account is not necessary but it is worthwhile if you find yourself wanting to draw and upload manga of your own.

OneManga accounts are definitely a must if you will be reading online and want to save a list of manga you want to read at some point. One Manga even has lists of potential interest like horror or fantasy if you have no idea where to start.

Creating accounts are free in all cases and you can donate to keep the sites alive. So have fun reading manga and see why it is a much loved pastime in Japan.

Bleach is one of my favorite anime series of all time(first is NGE). For a long time I was planning on reading the manga first before going any further with the anime, and then I stumbled upon this hub. Thanks a lot, it will definitely help me stay updated and skip the fillers.
