Better Times

Updated on October 30, 2012

The light
is gone from her eyes.
Who's to blame?
Perhaps
it was never truly there.
Only shades of it
in the good times.

The challenges of life
have damped the fires.
Now,
the relationship is hollow.
Like an empty clam shell.

Pretense
is the order of the day.
Avoidance
a necessary evil.

Some bridges
are impossible to rebuild.

A touching poem, I like the simplicity. Voted up for sure.
