Among the Ashes

Updated on February 26, 2014

Anan is an online blogger and private consultant since 2009 in the areas of relationships and interfaith spirituality.

Here lies what is left of me

among the embers of this flame.

In a fire that consumes my core

releasing the ashes to the wind.

Powerful is the need to let go

of the pain, of the sorrow

in my soul scattered,

to quit and give up.

For us, in the mortal realm

tomorrow is much to worry

for the soul lift us up

while or passions

weigh us down.

Meaningless pursuits,

cruel sacrifices,

for what ? Happiness?

I have burned many bridges

and yet turned into a pillar of salt.

For my heart was branded by the past.

Ana, use those burned bridges to leave the past behind. Create new bridges leading to new dreams.

So beautiful, so sad... let the pain burn in the flames... the past is past as soon as you let it go... the future is what you make it.. rise to fight and love again.

A wonderful poem about an excruciating moment in time... but if you can write this strongly you have much to live for on this earth.

You may have burned your bridges so that you can only go forward, but you certainly haven't turned into a pillar of salt, you're still very much alive and doing well!

Beautiful, ananceleste, simply incredible! It can be very hard to let go of pain, of the past, but there is healing in the release. When you forgive, you release yourself to move forward and heal. I love the reference to turning to a pillar of salt by looking back...I have told my best friend that I don't want to become Lot's wife, that I can't move forward if I'm constantly looking back. Very intense write!
