Beyond Those Rooms
My home is gone forever, yet it draws
Me. In that room below, the basement, there
I paced to music, slept, and studied laws
Of scripture, law and gospel, had much care
To walk by faith. Then I was moved above,
The upper floor, and walked by faith with more
Of that pure light of scripture. Bump and shove
Of life came to me. O, the pains I bore!
How youth and trouble mingled and I grieved
Because I walked by faith--the unbelief
Was all around me, yet I still believed
His Word, that Christ's return shall as a thief
Be in the night. My walk of faith proceeds
Beyond those rooms to others, where God leads.
