Black Widow Vs. Batman: Who Would Win?

Updated on November 24, 2013

It would be unlikely that the Black Widow and Batman would ever engage in combat because they are from different universes. In the past crossovers between characters published in Marvel and DC comics have happened. Black Widow is a superhero from the Marvel universe; her real name is Natalia Romanova a.k.a Natasha Romanoff. She used to be a KGB agent before she became an agent of S.H.E.I.L.D and then an Avenger. The Black Widow is an expert assassin, martial artist, and gymnast. Batman is a superhero from the DC Universe; his real name is Bruce Wayne.

Just like the Black Widow, Batman is at peak human strength and he is a skilled martial artist. Throughout Batman's career he has unintentionally inspired others to become heroes such as Barbara Gordon (Batgirl), Dick Greyson (originally Robin then Nightwing), Tim Drake (Robin), Betty Cane (The first Batgirl), Kathy Kane (Batwoman), among other individuals. Batman likes to work alone but he calls upon other heroes if needed and he's a member of the Justice League.

A fight between Batman and the Black Widow would indeed be interesting because both heroes are evenly matched. The fight wouldn't end quickly.

Let's compare the attributes of the two heroes and I will reveal who I believe would win this battle.

Batman's gadgets

Batman Has a Utility Belt

Batman is most famous for all of the cool gadgets and equipment he uses when he is fighting crime in Gotham or saving the world with the Justice League. In Batman's trusty utility belt he carries explosives, sleeping gas, batarangs, tasers, grapplers, and any equipment Batman may need for his mission.

Not all of the Dark Knight's gadgets are carried in his utility belt. His costume is made up of a material which is both bullet proof and fire resistant. The Caped Crusader also has infrared visors in his mask. And his mask is lined with knock-out gas which will render anyone unconscious who tries to remove Batman's mask should he become incapacitated.

Batman's arsenal of gadgets would give Batman an advantage against the Black Widow. The Dark Knight might just be able to subdue the Black Widow.

The Black Widow on the other hand relies mostly on her fighting skills and acrobatics. But, the Black Widow does wrist mounted energy blasters. And she may carry pistols on her as well.

Black Widow Received the Super Soldier Serum

When Black Widow was a KGB agent she received a weakened version of the super soldier serum. As a result she is resistant to injury, immune to most viruses and toxins, and she is a the peak of her physical strength. Because the serum the Black Widow is actually old enough to be a grandmother but she looks like she is still a twenty something. The super soldier serum may or may not be an advantage for the Black Widow because Batman is also at peak human strength. If the Black Widow get injured by Batman, at least she would recover quickly.

Batman and the Black Widow May be Evenly Matched in the Martial Arts

When it comes to the martial arts Batman and the Black Widow may be on even ground. When Bruce Wayne's(Batman) parents died, Bruce traveled around the globe learning about different martial arts techniques. Batman has mastered so many different forms of martial arts that he has created his own unique fighting style. Batman is also good at the escaping arts and he has a genius level intellect.

The Black Widow has also mastered many forms of martial arts. Her fighting style is more graceful and she is acrobatic so that may work to her advantage.

Martial art ability may not completely benefit either hero but the situation in which they are fighting may be the deciding factor. If you remember when Batman was fighting Lady Shiva, one of the best martial artists in the DC Universe, the dark knight was near defeat until his sidekick Robin intervened.

And The Winner Is!!!!

It was difficult for me to determine who would win if Batman and the Black Widow were to engage in battle. Both heroes are at peak human performance. Albeit the Black Widow is resistant to injury and she recovers from injuries quickly. Batman's knowledge of the martial arts is so great that he has created his very own fighting style which is difficult for his opponents to determine.

While the Black Widow isn't a stand alone hero like Batman, she has lots of experience as a spy and an Avenger. Therefore, she has a lot of combat experience an she is skilled in fighting other opponents skilled in the martial arts as well as super powered beings.

I would have to say that the Black Widow may win the fight. First of all, Batman would hold back while fighting the Black Widow which the Black Widow will use to her advantage. Although Batman has an arsenal of gadgets, he still only relies on his fighting ability. Even if there isn't a winner the fight would end in a draw.

I've included some live action footage of the Black Widow and Batman fighting. I tried to find a good live action fight scene for Batman but I never cared for any of Batman's live action fight scenes. They never adequately demonstrated Batman's fighting skills. But, I posted a video of Batman fighting Bane from "Dark Knight Rises."

Let me know in the comments section who you think would win if Batman and the Black Widow fought one another.

How would the outcome of a fight between Batman and the Black Widow turn out?

It's almost like you want her to win from the very beginning

As always, an interesting read from this Hub. Batman would kick her butt, frankly. That's why, for example, the best professional female fighter in the world would lose to the worst professional male fighter, in all likelihood - unless we're being PC about it. There's a separation between women's fighting and men's for a reason. In the comics, Batman is far more popular, too, so Marvel would likely relent and let a Batman victory be written.

I agree with you - Black Widow would probably win. She is not so popular as Batman, so I totally understand why majority voted on her opponent, but she is better in more areas and one more thing - like it or not, in long term ladies always win;)

Given the info provided in this page, batman would win for the simple fact that black window would be fighting a certain style that is known, while batman would have his unique style that is not known on earth except to those he trains like the robins.

Batman, totally. I mean, if Black Widow was even worthy of fighting batman, she would have tons of her own well-known movies and tv shows rather than being in parts of well-known movies and tv shows as a minor-medium character. Let's face it, Batman is a superhero, an Black Widow is more of a... sidekick.

Batman would smash her to pieces. Good idea for a hub.

ah, this is interesting indeed, and while i could not say who would win definitively i would have to say my hopes would be with the batman, just because. he would subdue her but cause her no lasting damage, that's not the dark knights style, lol. she would simply end up being cell mates with the joker at arkhem asylum and that would be a fate worse than death. :)

Batman would win. I don't see much doubt in this. If widow had surprise on her side it is possible she would win, but Batman is rarely without some prior knowledge of his opponent. If he knows his opponent I don't see him losing. Batman would beat Captain America and Cap could beat widow.

Thank you for reading my Hub NateB11. I chose Batman and the Black Widow because I find the two heroes to have similar fighting styles. I was leaning towards Batman as well but I feel that Black Widow would win because of her resistance to injury and her exposure to the super soldier serum.

Thank you for commenting on my first Hub Geekdom. You are right that neither DC or Marvel would want their heroes to lose. Spiderman would never stand a chance against Superman. I never read any of the DC-Marvel crossover comics. And I don't know where to find them. Do you by any chance know where I could buy those comics? I know Amalgam was the publisher for the DC-Marvel crossover stories.

This is a great idea, picturing Black Widow and Batman fighting, two great characters. The martial arts action would be intense. I was leaning toward Batman winning, but it's a hard choice, considering Black Widow's experience and the effect of the serum. Batman does have those gadgets.

Great First Article. I voted draw because they come from different universes and neither company would want their hero to loose. That is why Spider-Man was able to hold his own against Superman, but lets face it, Spider-Man would have been squashed easily. :)
