Bless the Souls

Updated on July 11, 2014

Bless the Souls

Bless the Souls

Who lie awake

Scared of the night

Scared of the day

Raging fires

Or missiles in air

Dying mothers

And other despair

Bless the souls

Afraid to speak

Disabled men

In some way weak

Cannot cure

The form they bare

Or triumph mental

Wear and tear

Bless the souls

Who witness the dead

Or hide their face

From the world ahead

Crossing hearts

And hoping to die

Or haven't got

A tear to cry

Bless the souls

Who can't get ahead

Wishing or wondering

For a meal before bed

Innocent people

Without knowledge, yet

Grasping reigns of life

'Til death

Bless the souls

Who need to be blessed

Forever in my heart

You have a place to rest

Great poem! The closest I got was Toys for Tots and raising funds for the Children's Hospital in Sac.
