"Blocked" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"Blocked"

Stale uninspired worthless thoughts

Trudge through my sludge

Static electricity

Sparks in the dark

No flame

Pressed lips with no connection

Scribbling tongues

Out of tune

Helpless

My lost joy

Dead white space taunts

Unimaginative bully

I blame the canvas

I hide and wait

Tomorrow, lightning may strike

So, I wait

Blocked

I will figure a way out

I always do

Until then...

Blocked

Eric, so far the first part of this Holiday Season has drained the life right out of me, Christmas and New Years to go. Anyways....I am blocked by the fact that I am exhausted. Your poem really helped though, maybe not in getting my energy renewed, but I want to write. Thank you. Jamie

Thanks a bunch Jamie... I guess we figure out that we are artist/ writers or whatever and we find joy in that, the escape, the process. There are creative energies that float and I'll be damn if I can feel them lately. I'm glad this poem has done anything for you, i loathed it until I read your comment. Now I feel good, and you made my day. I sit here with a coffee sad and uninspired, but your comments a ray of sun through my clouds.

      Thanks, EWF

Haha very clever. I know that exact feeling. Tonight, I'm waiting on the lightning.

Thanks, I was so pissed and annoyed when I wrote this that I despise it, but others like it so it has purpose, I'm a selfish bastard apparently.

Apparently. Ah, I'm just kidding. I guess we write for ourselves and others.

Yeah I write for both, but I relish in other people's joy, I would still write if I didn't receive "applause" but I'd be lying if I said I didn't care.
