Blogging Is Not My Game

Updated on November 2, 2014

The Art of Writing

Blogging and Me

Blogging is an act of writing about an idea, event, opinion or personal experience on an online platform that we partly own. I already heard about this kind of online activity since I started out my online on and off career more than two years ago but until this time, I could not decipher what strategy should I apply in order to make it work for me. It seems that my luck on this career path is still elusive.

When I read from an article about this particular activity, I decided to try it out myself. I haven’t been written for any company before so I just tried it following the instructions I read.

First Failure in Blogging

After writing for some articles in my blog, I applied for an Adsense account which I never had an idea about and I was immediately notified that I was disapproved because my blog is not qualified for some reasons or another.

That was my first disappointment in this line of activity. Until I discovered that applying for an Adsense account is not easy at all. Thinking that my effort on this won’t make me any good, I continuously search for other online earning opportunities and I was able to find some kind of work which fits me, so I decided to give my full attention into it. I also tried my luck in writing for other sites and the result was just fine.

Failed For The Second Time

Because my call reviewing work is giving me some good amount which is helping me in my everyday expenses, I decided to stick into it. But my love for writing is there so I decided to create a new blog with Weebly. Most of the contents I wrote were regarding the call center site and my other experiences online.

After a year of maintaining my blog, I was so disappointed when one day, I could no longer access my account. It was deleted for no given reason. Well, I was not earning from it anyway. But the contents I had in it are important to me.

I Am a Slow Learner

It was earlier this year when a facebook friend created a page exclusive for online bloggers. He invited me to join. He even encouraged me to write for his site but I told him that I am not confident that I could meet his standards since I am not really a professional writer. I told him that I have to learn things about blogging. Perhaps when I learn things in a proper manner, I could reapply for Adsense and I would be able to earn from this activity.

I started reading his blogs which is mostly about blog layout and templates, HTML and other things related to blogging. It was such a big help for me. I learned new things which made me very happy.

Then again, I started creating my blog in Blogger applying all the things I learned from his articles and instructions. That was where I learned about applying for a hosted Adsense Account. using Youtube. I was lucky this time to get an account.

To my excitement, I immediately purchase a domain from GoDaddy. So I had my own domain for my blog. That’s when I learned that a Hosted Adsense Account is not allowed on blogs with .com, .net, etc.

What should I do? It can be only used in Youtube and other sites. Stupid me!

While browsing some articles online, I came across a post about Hub Pages which at my first glance, a site which only an expert or professional writer could join. I was hesitant but tried to make my first article which they called Hub. It was not published. I tried writing a more comprehensive post and I was happy that it was published. I am a good writer, I thought.

I explore the site to learn about earning but I was prompted to submit tax information. I decided to get my Income Tax Return (ITR) from the provincial office. I have it scanned because I thought that the site would require me to upload it.

We became so busy at the office due to overlapping schedules. I wasn’t able to update my site until I almost forget about my ITR which I need to upload.

One day, I was browsing when I accidentally opened my Adsense Account. It has a small amount in it. Where did it come from? I wasn’t able to display ads in my site. I tried to explore my Adsense Account until my HubPages showed as one of the traffic sources.

I remembered adding my Adsense Account ID in here. I searched for my scanned ITR and started filling up the required date from the site only to learn that I don’t need it at all because I am not from the US.

I guess my experience had taught me lessons that I will never forget. I made a lot of mistakes while trying to learn things by myself. But I am not giving up on it.

A simple question for you

How can you describe your blogging skills?

Still Hoping To Generate Good Result

Blogging may not be favorable to me this time, but I will continue studying about it until such time that can call myself as a successful Blogger. I am currently updating my blogs and hoping to fix those little problems.

I know I still have to learn a lot of things but as the saying goes, quitters don’t win. So here I am trying to fix things together and looking forward to a brighter future on this endeavor.

Interesting article! I started a blog on Blogger, and after a year or so, I just neglected it. It just wasn't for me, I guess. I deleted all my blogs. I try and devote my spare time to HP.

I thought you could have a .com blog with Adsense. This might explain why I don't make the money for Adsense. I have been blogging for years but still considering myself a beginner.

Hi! Is your Adsense Account a hosted account too? I checked on my Adsense account and I found my blog's name on it and a few earnings. Although I am not sure anymore where my earnings came from because my Hubpages account, my you tube account and my blog are all linked to my Adsense. Perhaps I just have to write more articles. Thank you for dropping by.

My blog is a Blogger blog with my own domain on it. I did the same as you. I do run Google Ads and have had no problem with having them on the blog. Not sure why you are having a problem. My domain provider is GoDaddy as well, so the similarities are there yet you mention that you could not display the ads.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I've been writing my whole life, but I'm a fairly new blogger/hubber.
