Blue Bonnet Highway.........for Nellieanna Hay

Updated on June 12, 2015

Heard the words in the line of a song
and before I knew it I was there
There's something special in Texas and it's isn't
only in the warm dry air

There's an angel down there who's smile
is just as beautiful as the flower
And she's Nellieanna Hay I tell you
there's magic in her power

A better writer well of that I've yet to see
a poetess is what we have in our whiles
And Ill tell you this too the lady's full of
gorgeous smiles

And even more .......the woman's got a Texas
heart of gold
They don't make them everyday either
or so I have been told

So when I see blue bonnets and think of
beauty and see blue eye's I wonder
Are Nellieanna's eye's as blue as the flower
that grows up down under?

Either way blue green hazel or brown
her beauty is deep within her soul
For I know a lady lives in Texas and her smiles
play a most important role

Well, I suppose that, being who we ARE, we'd find or devise paths - as always. ;) Giving up is not an option unless it IS the real best choice. :)

Ed, a published collection of your poetry or a novel about your father in his honor would be welcomed and appreciated by your followers and fans - and a wider reading potential following! You write so well, with depth and heart.

BUT - you must not even consider abandoning us here on HP.

Well, I'll be all the way out this time. When my oldest son was born c-section they had to hold me down and put me under. I tried ti get up off the table and pulled my IV out. Haha!

Ouch , you poor girl , I have heard that stones are painful , I'm so sorry ! I do however believe that you are one tough cookie ! Don't hurt any doctors now , We old guys need them tooo!

Hahaha! Well. . .how bad can I be? It'll be a riot of the good kind. ;)

Um, too serious, guess not. Depends on who you ask. One friend acted as if my doctors are crazy and that I am risking my life. Another just called it the vacuum thing and no big deal.

They are going to go into my kidney by punching a hole in it, insert a tube, break up a kidney stone too large to pass that has been causing trouble for over a year, and then suck out the pieces through the tube. Hopefully the one on my left side will not require surgery too. I only prefer to do this once.

      Oh no ! I hope it's nothing serious . Why does something always happen to such beautiful people . You take care . Don't make me come down there and wack you for misbehaving in the hospital !....;-}

Well enough. I have a brief hospital stay scheduled for next week. Surgery was supposed to happen two weeks ago, but it got moved due to something they overlooked that had to be taken care of first. So, if all goes well, I will soon be on the mend and feeling MUCH better.

Hope all is well with you too.

      Oh , you are so right about that ! I too was very reluctant . And still I consider outing myself in name . But anonymity best suits me for now . I also have considered the possibility of writing a book of poetry or even a novel , however that's a big step ! Much of my writing has been about my father's life . My novel would be about his very unique life .....we'll have to see ..........:-}

Thank you again. YES - that's it - the encouragement & support here from fellow hubbers is huge and almost mystical. My story upon coming here is still amazing to me.

I'd written poetry & prose most of my life, personal expression to reassure myself that I was ‘in here’, not to show or prove to others, so had shared no more than a few poems with very personal close friends till then, at age 78. I joined HP, not to share my writing, but to support a friend/writer, Merlin, who was publishing a trilogy of mystery novels & had detected my bent toward writing. I'm a reluctant 'joiner' but when he mentioned that people 'follow' & 'fan' favorites here, I figured I could quietly support him in that way, but didn't intend to write anything here and the very LAST thing intended was to share any poetry!

But immediately I had a follower and fan, which was flattering but a little unsettling, since I'd done zip to win it. That was 'De Greek', an HP friend of Merlin’s. He’s been encouraging me since that March day in 2010. So I tentatively posted a couple of guarded hubs. Before long his followers had started reading & commenting favorably on my hubs. I began to catch on to what HP provides, which can be at one’s own pace & choices. It was like a plant being watered & nourished. So, naturally. I wanted to pass that along.

I have cherished our hub page relationship my friend , And YOU , have been such an inspiration for SOO many ! Don't deny it , I have witnessed it my dear . You are far and away a very real poet , your writing is mystically romantic . It is life itself in meaning and content . So many of us adore it and hope that you continue forever ! Love and a special hug to you .....Ed

Just as a note , I came here desperately needing to voice my mind and heart and many just like you actually helped me to accomplish what I wanted ! What you read IS who I am , Thank you !

Aha! So! Well, your lovely tribute is listed there now! A shining jewel among my gems! Hugs. . . I’m a great admirer of your work and its heartfelt spirit, Ed. Through it, I feel I know you, the person.

I don’t expect tributes but fully appreciate them. I’ve not sought to be traditionally published, but what a pleasure to be shown respect among my own colleagues, even though I wasn't seeking or expecting that when I came to HP. Not at ALL! It still amazes me.
