Board Books in Infant/Toddler Classrooms
I taught in an infant/toddler classroom for a few years toward the end of my career. I found board books to be a favorite with both babies and toddlers. I always had a low bookshelf in my classroom so that even the infants who were crawling could reach the books. Board books are made of sturdy cardboard for infants and toddlers and are virtually indestructable. Toddlers like to carry books around and this encourages their interest in books and reading. Publishers are now publishing board books in a variety of subjects and board books are also now available in this form for most classical books that older children read. They make the introduction to readin easily accessible for babies and toddlers.
Teachers/caregivers in infant and toddler classrooms will find a wealth of board books for their little students.
Enjoy!
