Book Lover Hubbers Wanted

Updated on November 9, 2011

It Is Time To Share

As long as I can remember I loved books

You could say I was hooked

When I was little there use to be a Scholastic Book Club in school

I thought it was so cool

Most kids bought one book and were happy

I bought eight to ten and other kids thought I was daffy

Years later my collection began to grow

Books piled up higher and higher

I tucked them in the bookshelf and stacked them on the table

I boxed up the extras to read later

Little did I know that my library would grow so big

I became attached to them and gave my books a home

I later called it my B I G library for a number of reasons

Today I have Books I Give to those who care

They are on health and weath and how to handle all kinds of lifes issues

I have a wide range of self help and a strange combination on a whole variety of topics

Too many to list and too many to just forget about

I was so excited and proud and was sure I was going to be the proud owner of my own personal library some day

To my surprise I never had the place or the money to make it happen

My vision was it would look like the library in the Beauty And The Beast

Now like all good things there is a time and a place

They say all good things must come to an end

I disagree and I think all things keep getting better and better

I never wanted to part with any of the books I bought

But it occured to me I can only read one book at a time

So I gave it some thought

If I could share my books with someone who loves books like me

To make sure they would have a home and not thrown away or disguarded like trash

Local libraries said my books are outdated and irrelevant

How can life, love and happiness and learning about business and investments (be out of style)

They said they have too many and are constantly getting rid of any they don't need

Well this will not do

I want someone who appreciates books like I do

I am looking for readers who will read and share their knowledge they have learned

I can put a few in a box and send them on their way

I signed each one and left a positve message for the new owner

It would be nice if you signed it too and maybe other people may borrow them from you

All I ask is for postage and away they go

If interested e-mail me for details

I would appreciate it if you could comment on the books that you have read

Then if we each learn one thing from the books that motivated me and interested you

I can finally move on with a collection of books in the hundreds

Free up some space my wife has been waiting patiently for

I think this could be a start of a new idea

What good is a book left on a shelf

It is better off read and reread

It is not a statue to take up space

An unread book is the saddest thing I can think of

Making my mobil library a sweet success

I hope my books will travel the world over and fill each page with a new name

They will have served one purpose

People will read more and learn more

Thank all you hubbers that gave my books a try

As always have a great day and find the time to read just a little

You just never know what you can learn from a book

It might be a wondeful thought or a new idea

That can keep you happy for years to come

Kirutaye hubby is right. You can over do it.I certainly have.Good for you.Keep reading and remember hubby comes before the books.Sometimes our priorities get mixed up.Nell Rose I don't know if people want books with my name on them and I personalized everyone.I had a Big dream and I was willing to do everything to make it happen. The money is always nice.My dream got the best of me.WD Curry111 I don't have that book but I will be on the hunt.Like a blood hound on a fresh trail.I will search high and low where ever I go.I love people who have passion about certain books.I feel the excitement building like water about to boil. Thanks for asking and if there are other books your looking for I will try to help out.My love for books goes deep down under my skin.I think seven layers deep.Thanx everyone for all your great suggestions.I couldn't of come this far without you.Happy reading.

I first want to comment to the overwhelming response that all you wonderful Hubbers have given me in the past two days.I am so overjoyed and simply elated with love.I have had a hidden dream for so many years in my head.It was to have my own library where people could come all hours of the night. To inspire others with love and kindness and dreams of passion. To relax and enjoy soft music.Play an old outdated board game in an overstuffed cushy chair. To pick up an old paper and find the good people who make me proud. My fantasy felt real.I told others and they could not see the interest or desire that I feel.So my dream became burried in the layers of my mind growing stronger by the minute.A place that would be open 24 hours seven days a week. You can stop in and rest your feet. You can listen to others talk.I thought I would take it to the next step. You could get up and use the microwave for tea or toast.Pop some popcon in the cabnet. Please don't forget to ask if anyone else wants somethin while your up.A place that could be far away from home. But has curtains hanging and decorations for the different holidays. There would also be a quick lunch menue if you desire.I saved the best for last.Whereever you look you would be surrounded by books. From the ceiling to the walls to the floor.Books those wonderful books that stir the imagination. There would be some of the greatest thinkers playing on a small movie screen contantly all day all night.I would hope you feel at home and come back often.Don't forget to sign in when you come in.You can sign your name on the wall or on the desk.I want people not just a building a dream but sharing a piece of them .I will get back to each hubber later to thank you personally. But for now I want to cherish each thought.I now have downsized my library and I upgraded it to a mobil library where more people will read my books in the comfort of your own.Have a great day and pick up a book and look it over from head to toe.Don't worry about finishing it.Reading ust a little is so nice.

I love books. I don't know if I love them as much as you. I had a copy of the "Art of War" by Sun Su that I got when someone like you was doing a similar thing. I loved it. I felt like it complimented the bible in many ways,"The general must not share his plan, even with his closest, most trusted advisers. The army need not know the general's plan. It is enough that his army know his voice and will follow without hesitation when he commands."

I lent it to a friend who moved away. I didn't mind. I went to several major book stores looking for a new one. There were several different versions on the shelf. I looked for my favorite passages. They were flat compared to the one I had. It was old and outdated. Do you have an old outdated copy of that book around?

Hi, just came back to say, why not sell them on Amazon? I have had a bit of success at that, just make up a name for you 'store' and put them on the amazon page.

A great hub and a cool idea. My house is overflowing with books too. I have to often box some up and take them to the charity shop or give them away to friends.

Hubby started complaining and bought me a Kindle for our anniversary present. So I'm buying more eBooks than paperbacks.

      Dream On,

Sorry I'm late for the party, but it's been a busy week, and I got here as quick as I could. Such a beautiful hub with such a wonderful idea!

I still love BOOKS! I use a Kindle frequently, out of necessity for speed, however, it doesn't compare to the feel of a book in my hands and turning the pages as I go.

I agree with your line about one of the saddest things ever is an unread book.

I love books. I am just confused when people ask me why i read a lot? Maybe they should ask the question of why they read less to themselves.

      This is awesome.

"An unread book is the saddest thing I can think of." So true! Books are precious and best when shared. I'd take up your offer but I have so many books I haven't even read them all yet. Voted up.

Mary615 I thought about a kindle too.I don't have time to read the books I have and the kindle will just add books to my list.It doesn't speed up my reading.I will just have to wait.I have invested a small fortune now it is time to read what I have.I love the smell and feel of the paper and the sound of the pages turning.I am glad to see so many book lovers out there.I am happier than ever.Thanx for reading and sharing.

My children bought me a Kindle last Christmas. I don't want to hurt their feelings, but I love a book! There is nothing like holding a book in my hands to read. Our library here will not take used books. Guess they want to spend out tax dollars to buy new ones. What a waste! I hope you find good homes for your books. I already have far too many, but thanks. Goodnight....

Feline Prophet I see lots of potential with all the hubbers who love to read.I can't think of a better time holding a book in my hand and hearing the authors words in my head as I am reading.Readers are special people. They want to learn and be thrilled at the same time.Thanx so much for your wonderful comment.

Happyboomernurse That was my biggest problem.I thought I would go back and reread my books many times but too often than not I found another book to read and so on.Once and awhile rereading certain books.I truely love them all.I have given some to my library and they had them at a book sale. After the sale they also threw away the unsold books.I couldn't believe a library of all places would do such a thing. They said we don't have the time or the space to store them.I didn't live near the library so growing up I ended up buying books instead of borrowing them.I should of waited till I was older and tried the library again.Instead I got into the habit of buying and the illusion of having my own Self Improvement Library for others to enjoy. It just never got off the ground. Now I am trying to something better.I want to thank you for your interest and sweet thoughts. If you change your mind my books are good with other books and love to be held close. They are special and hard to describe.Have a good night and happy reading.

What a wonderful idea! Books should certainly reach the largest number of readers possible - we owe that to their creators!

Neil Rose In the past I have given some to friends and neighbors and nursing homes.I found out that friends lost them. The neighbors trashed or sold them and nursing homes don't use them. They are not the topics people in nursing homes read.I have given some to the Good Will stores and they just stick them on a back shelf price them to high and soon they disappear to who knows where. So I felt hurt and disappointed by my results.I don't want to sell them at a yard sale.I want to gift them to someone else who loves to read about the magic in life the books share a wonderful insight. When people struggle to make things right. If this goes well you can do it too.I will keep you informed of my progress. So far your comment makes it feel promising.Thanx for the tips and the support.

I too have many books on the topics you mentioned and do go back and reread many of my favorites, plus still have quite a few I haven't gotten to yet, plus am always taking books out of my library or donating to the library. Our library takes any books because they have frequent fundraising book sales so they don't care if they have duplicates or triplicates or is the books are old.

I won't be taking you up on your offer but I hope others do. I think this is a fabulous and generous offer.

Voted up across the board except for funny.

Hi, what a great idea! I must admit that my house is full of books too! I trip over them, so I would love to do it but in fact I am in your situation! lol I actually put a bag full of books outside my front door a few weeks ago with the note on them saying, 'Please take these books, they are free to a good home, I don't like throwing them in the bin!' they are too good for that'!! and I stood and looked out, a few minutes later a woman came past and took them! result! lol
