Book Review: An Unhappy Medium by Dawn Eastman
Even though it’s been a couple of years since I read the third installment to this series, it took a few pages to get reacquainted with Clytemnestra Fortune and her offbeat family.
In this installment, Clyde is shocked to learn that her sister Grace is on her way back to Crystal Haven after a fifteen year absence. Clyde isn’t sure why Grace, brother-in-law Paul and niece Sophie are coming to town, but thinks it has to do with nephew Seth’s charity Zombie Run.
While their visit is a surprise, other former residents (and friends of Grace) make an unexpected visit. Clyde finds it a little odd, but dismisses the arrivals as part of the Founders Day celebration.
Paul and Sophie go missing after the run and when a body is found in the woods, Clyde has to figure out Grace’s secrets and why she and Paul are being followed by a pair of not so unnoticeable men.
Eastman has put together another page turner which compliments the other installments in the series. The characters are quirky in this quaint West Michigan town and unfortunately the ending is a little bit of a letdown.
With no news of another installment, we’ll have to imagine what the characters have been up to.
