"Books" by Eric Wayne Flynn

"Books"

Painful pages with flowers

Pressed between them

Flipping through them for moments

Growing accustom to their prose

Pressed between my pages lays a rose

Thorns as big as sharks teeth

Shredding up flesh

Thumbing through it

Next chapter

The setting

The sun

Drenched in sweat

Taking a step

Getting burned

Flipping through books

Another lesson learned

Reading too much into them

Knowing you will put them on the shelf

Love this poem, so very true, I usually have five books going at once. Tend to swirl a bit in the mind, and then I pick five more. Hard to put them down, love being taken into the world within them.

      Pinned and enjoyed

Well done. I have so many boxes of books in the garage and I am out of space in the house to keep them. Jamie

Thanks Jamie, this is actually more about people rather than actual books. But it is also about books, myself, and even more.

Hey Eric, I guess people can be compared to books, especially old books. You can't always tell by looking at the cover what's inside. A shabby well worn book may be a classic and has been very popular for many years. Many different things can be used as bookmarks too. I once bought a book from a second hand book shop for $1.00 and found a $10.00 note inside as a book mark. A good deal. Anyway voted this up.
