Brain Fog Is A Real Thing

Updated on November 3, 2013

Be Careful It Could Be Happening To you

I look around and see if anyone is watching

Is this a late Halloween prank that I just got

Maybe I drank too much last night and this is my slow recovery

Either way my brain is stuck in neutral

It wants to go racing forward and then it wants to rest

Both at the same time

I know this is virtually impossible

Then again one thought keeps crossing my mind

Anything is possible if you put your mind to it

So here I go fighting myself

Mind over mind

Kind of strange even for me

So lets recap

NASA would say we have a problem

A neighbor would say I am losing my cotton picking mind

A friend would say your sleep deprived and need to go to bed (being only to kind)

My wife would say I am going to bed

My mother would say Michael and just give me one of those looks

Still trying to figure out when she was pregnant with me if she was on any strange medicine that could be causing this hallucination some forty nine years later

My father would say what does that have to do with the tea in China

All I have to say for myself is that before I came to write I had a very good day

That would leave plenty of good things to write about

I even have some bad things so that would probably make more interesting stories

The weather is raw, rainy and dreary

Now if that alone isn't a good enough reason to write nothing else will ever do

So I got to thinking what could cause this

Just maybe a busy day at work

No that never stopped me in the past

Late night hunger pains

Nope I had a good size bowl of ice cream about an hour ago

My cat Charlette is no help either

Sound asleep snuggled on the chair after three minutes coughing on a fur ball

We had to put our clocks back do to day light savings time

So now I have no excuse I just gained an hour of free writing time

I think it was because I sat down and watched about two hours of t.v.

Some funny comedies and a couple of my wife"s programs

I enjoyed it very much but I think the television was numbing my brain

The logic behind it is I haven't watched much t.v. because I am usually trying to spend my time being more productive

Like using it for writing or reading

So that means I can blame it on my wife

It's her fault

I know what your thinking

She didn't put a gun to your head and make you watch the t.v.

Even that would make a good story for the Star magazine

I could of got up at anytime

But wasn't able to because of my wife's hidden control

Simply most would believe I just chose not to

I was being lazy

Now sit down and put your mind to it and write

Write like you haven't written before

Stay focused and keep your thoughts flowing freely

I turn my keyboard over to you

Any hidden thoughts on the subject ?

When your mind and fingers can't seem to get it together

They feel like they have no eye and hand coordination

Nothing in sync

Maybe I am just having an off day

Cut me some slack

Other people love to give advice and might say I am coming down with the flu

I have come to a conclusion

There is an invisible fog that drifts around the world

When the fog comes by it causes our mind to get scrambled

Like scrambled eggs I love so much

But the latter is a good thing where the first one is a state of unconsciousness

A condition that we have little control over and very little explanation if any

Very little research because it is if the fog knows

The fog can think for itself

It has a mind of it's own

Then it prevents us from even recording any kind of report or scientific proof

Until now

Maybe the fog is asleep or it has been lifted at this very moment

The word is out

Now with the ease of the computer I can see if anyone anywhere in the world is suffering from the same problem

Then we can have the beginning data that can lead to a case study

It's a start that gets the ball rolling

I wouldn't even know how you go about doing further research

What I can say I think the condition that I have seen is only temporary

If I am right by day break tomorrow

I will be back to normal

This could also be the start of writers block

I am not even going to let my mind ponder any negative thoughts

So I have given some thought to finding a solution

My conclusion is write my way through

Until you feel the same feelings you have always felt or better

Thank you for all your help in this strange particular matter

      Hi Michael.

Are you serious? Is that true that a human being would choose such a torture to his body, or this is only a fiction. Never heard, never experience anything like it. . .

All we do is we choose to; all we know we've experienced. As far as helping ?

This is what woul I do to myself : standing in front of a mirror, I'll ask, myself, "Michael ( it's my name ) what do you want? What do you want? "

Considering ALL options ... I know what's best for me... You do

      the same.

      If anything it's funny.

      Have a nice Sunday .

annart Luckily it strikes us all at different times. So I can joke while you deal with yours and after you know mine will come soon too. The joy of writing carries us all over the world in an instant. Nothing can beat that. Thank you for reading and making my story so much more fun.

I like the idea of the world fog! We all have it but it does clear eventually. Yes, just write through it. Great piece - amusing but deep. Ann

I've been there before. Just learn to swim with the stream of consciousness.
