Brand New Day

Updated on February 6, 2015
Dawn over the horizon.
Dawn over the horizon. | Source

This is an original poem I penned in 1976.

The skies are lightening.

Darkness passes on and

Daylight slowly creeps in.

Dawn…

The most peaceful time

Of day.

All of Nature is quietly

Resting

Preparing for a new day.

While watching time move on,

The earth comes alive.

Morning flowers open up, stretching

Their arms and lifting their

Faces to the slowly rising sun.

Life.

Birds start chirping.

Animals begin to scamper about

Collecting food for the young

Ones.

Good morning.

It’s a brand new day.

bravewarrior, What you have shared is of the greatest gifts the Lord has provided for his own, and of the good earth. Thank you in this generosity.

      Shauna -

Beautiful visuals provided so well by your words. The only thing missing was the dew drying off of my jacket as I was there enjoying the event!

      Bravo, brave one! Great Job!

You don't know what that means to me, T. My favorite form of expression is poetry. To receive a comment such as you've extended, puts a smile in this poet's heart! Thank you from the bottom of my soul and the rim of my rose-colored glasses!

Thanx, Im. Poetry is my heart felt form of writing. It comes from the emotions and thoughts invoked by so many stimuli, but Mother Nature is my favorite form of inspiration!

Well it's always a brand new day Shauna when I get to hang out with you.

And this lovely poetic ode to dawn and a brand new day has a lot of meaning for me because I love watching the daybreak and then the sun come up over the lake and it's one of those life affirming moments which seems different everyday I get to see it.

Well, lol, I missed it today because I went to bed before the dawn after night shift but I also love in the summer the magic hour or the mellow time as I call it in the late evening before dark which is between 8pm and 9pm - I guess you can call me an impressionist and you always make an impression on me Shauna.

Have an awesome afternoon and evening.

Sending you 3 big Canadian hugs from Colin, Tiffy and Gabriel

Epi, I'm so pleased you are making your way around the poetic area of my little HP corner.

How are you, my friend? Have you begun house hunting? I sure hope you find something on or near the water or I fear you'll jump right out of your gills!

Sorry to say I've been a failure in life and I am in financial debt so my next move will be back to the city where I work and into a crummy bachelor apartment and it's probably one of the reasons I suffer from situational depression.

You're not a failure in life, sweetie. Quit telling yourself that. Look how much joy you bring all of us! And I'm sure your kitties are proud to call you Dad. Stop beating yourself up or I'll have to come up there and beat you myself!
