Breakfast, The Poem

Updated on June 25, 2017

A Poem Introduction

I was inspired today to write a poem about one of my favorite meals of the day, breakfast. Now, I don't always eat breakfast, but when I do I like to make it a good meal. Sometimes I enjoy breakfast for dinner. Whatever I am in the mood for, it will get cooked. And I will devour it, and enjoy it as well. So, I hope you like this poem about breakfast.

It's morning time, and I'm ready to eat

My hunger I look to defeat

I need more than a bowl of cereal

Choices sometimes seem unbearable

Eggs will be the first ingredient to get

Scrambled, fried or maybe an omelet

Sunny side up is the way to go

Get some toast for the running yoke

Bacon, of course we need this meat

The candy from pig that is not sweet

Listen to the sizzle as it cooks and hisses

Grease splatters are just bacon kisses

Pancakes, lets make a short stack

Top of with butter and syrup we won't lack

Warm and fluffy, so tasty and great

Would it be wrong to lick the syrup off the plate?

Waffles, instead of doing flapjacks?

Their little squares make little syrup traps

Mix the batter as quickly as I can

Stack them on top to make a waffle tower stand

When do you like a big breakfast?

See results

Sausage is next, so smoky and sweet

Fry in the pan and turn up the heat

Links are patties or both your choice

One they are done so savory and moist

Why not add some country ham

We can never have to many meats I understand

Pink in the middle with brown on the sides

Salty and crispy on the edges is what I like

Hash browns we can't leave them out for sure

Shredded, cubed or whatever you prefer

Mix him some chunks of meat

Add some cheese which cannot be beat

Corned beef hash straight out the can

Warm this up inside the pan

Let it get crispy so is they way

Top it off with a fried egg

And while we cook, enjoy that cup of Joe

Cream or sugar or add both

Straight black you are a simple one

Now the cooking is all done

Say your grace and dig in

Breakfast meal for the morning win

Now that you're full next time you just might

Cook a big breakfast for dinner tonight

Breakfast at dinner, eh? Interesting. Nice beat to your poem and I felt the music. A fun read and my appetite was aroused as well. Sorry, I just had some rice and peas, callaloo and ackee (a Jamaican vegetable or fruit, not sure.) Much Love.

Wow, Fullerman, that is some big breakfast and would certainly keep you going all day. I love my breakfast but it doesn't reach those lofty heights. The basis is usually eggs with maybe bacon or grilled sausage, fried tomato, toast, juice and coffee. Occasionally will have this for dinner, especially if breakfast has been skipped that day.

Quite a fun poem to read. Cheers.

A poem about breakfast! Speaking my language. When I travelled to hawaii I was introduced to the concept of pancakes, bacon and maple syrup. Omg. What angel thought that up?

      My absolute two favourites are:

      - French toast with bacon, maple syrup and toasted walnuts.

      - Eggs Benedict with bacon not salmon but sometimes thick cut ham w sauteed mushroom on the side.

Cafes that do all day breakfasts... gets me excited. Genius.
