Bright Promise ( a poem of inspiration)

Updated on May 8, 2015
Our God watches over us...
Our God watches over us...
The fine airs we breathe...
The fine airs we breathe...
Our breath of life is precious to all...
Our breath of life is precious to all...
We must be good stewards and help watch over our green planet...
We must be good stewards and help watch over our green planet...
We must not allow the choking smoke of factories to dominate our lives...
We must not allow the choking smoke of factories to dominate our lives...
We may live in clean air, under vibrant skies, on this pristine earth...if we only try...as a people...in unison...
We may live in clean air, under vibrant skies, on this pristine earth...if we only try...as a people...in unison...

The sweet airs we all breathe, over hills and dale,

Above highest mountains, in the valleys, as well.

The precious breath of life, is so vital to us each,

As our vision, our hearing, as certain, our speech.

Just how might we live, without any of our fresh air,

Do the fine fish in the oceans, have any to spare?

What of the cutting down of our forests, of green trees,

Why must we all suffer, for just the few, it may please?

Highest columns of black smoke from factories escape,

As sentinels of death stand, their grey shrouds to drape.

A needless dumping of harsh waste in seas of our world,

While the dark reaper smiles, with his banner unfurled.

Though the sun still rises, always to warm this proud earth,

Our humanity holds its future, in our hands from our birth.

Is our charge, as good stewards, to watch over and to protect,

This green planet, a fine sanctuary, God's creatures, respect.

Beneath stars in the heavens... our sun by day, and moon, at night,

We were given a splendid gift of life... a future, to be so very bright.

As our creator watches over us, and our lives are long in their days,

Our tomorrows may be the best, and to receive our God's praise.

Yes, we must truly be a steward of this earth, for it is all that we have.

You have such a way with words whonu, it was beautiful and meaningful. So truthful too - we have to watch over this earth instead of living day to day and not caring about it. I voted it+++, shared and pinned it.

Whonu, you can't shout this loud enough. It is our job to protect our land and help it thrive. We've done just the opposite. Time to change our ways and help Mother Earth heal.
