Broken promises ....a poem

Updated on October 29, 2013

Look up into the blue eyes of trust
"someday son you'll understand"
and then life just happens
yet still......I don't think I can

And her eye's too in the beginning
shed tears of faithful promise and allure
So many promises by love then
and now..... I'm not so sure

No wonder man weakens and looks
elsewhere for his pleasures
Begins to faulter and seek out other
treasures

Just where is this promise.... faith and bliss
and an angel at my wing
Of promise of love unending .......
I don't see a thing

I've got to go .......work beckons
I've got to fulfill your needs
As she go's off to the parlor
her hair her nails her greeds

Okay , so this is a selfish one , I know , gonna make a few women mad , luv you all !

Hi Ed. I thought it was very nice with an ending that raised a smile. I liked it.

I like it. Lots of meanings and implications. Voted awesome.

Why should it make anyone mad, except maybe the woman that inspired the poem, assuming it is of true to life feelings? That said, it's not uncommon for people to experience those kinds of doubts and resentment within a relationship.

The sadness expressed is palpable. Makes me sad right along with you.

I agree with Susan. This could go either way. Those that love and keep their promises, can. :-) I very much liked the wording, and the styling of this poem.

This is a beautiful piece here of an outpouring of your heart, and ironically, I am about to make some women mad by publishing something right along these very lines ... keep watch out ... I am mindful of that store-bought beauty as opposed to that true beauty that comes from within, from the heart. It is good to find out the truth, although painful no doubt, but always best to know exactly what is going on.

      Up and more and sharing

      Hugs and love,

      Faith Reaper

I agree with Faith Reaper, it is a lovely piece and it's always best to know exactly what is going on.

Ed, did you see a doctor after this one? I can tell

you must've reached right into your gut and yanked this baby out, and surely stitches were needed? I love

the emotion and grit, but feel the pain in it also...

and naturally there is this reflex to reach out...soothe away the pain....Wonderful, poignant, yet visceral! hugs....
