Brothers Are A Gift

When we are young, our brothers can become a thorn in our side. Although they are there to protect us, they have an uncanny way of annoying us. As we grow older our brothers are still by our side, concerned about our everyday activity and who has harmed us. They give us wings to fly and catch us when we fall. They will listen intently to our relationship woes and guide us like a man is supposed to do. When we do not have anyone to talk to, they are a phone call or text message away, telling us simply all will be okay. Often we forget about how important a brother is and do not wish to pester them with our issues.

Brothers' are a gift sent from God to be our strength and our backbone. So to all of the brothers' who have sisters' and believe you are forgotten, this is from all of us to all of you.

Brother's are a gift sent from up above,

Only God knows how much we are loved.

You have wiped a tear and created a smile,

Even though we are apart, you have been there

all the while. From stealing our dolls, to skinning

our knees and telling mom we have hung from the

trees. A midnight call and a cry for help, makes us

realize you're our brother, no doubt. When we are

feeling down, the cell phone places a call, just to

remind us we are siblings after all. Sometimes we

do not wish to bother you , but we do know that

you will catch us when we fall. Even though we are

miles apart, forever and always you are etched in our

heart. So when you believe we are not listening to you,

we are acknowledging all that you do. Sometimes ashamed

when we need a helping hand, but we do know about God's

promise and you are our helping hand. Nobody will

understand the bond that we have, but only God knows

where a brother stands. Sisters' are great but a brother will

do and a brother is a gift , to all through and through. So when

you read this little poem that I wrote, this comes from the heart

note to note. Brothers are a gift sent from up above and only

God knows, that kind of love. So if you are a brother, remember

all that you have done, and the spiritual bond will never be gone.

Intertwined through Heaven and sent to Earth, you are

joined hand-in-hand that was in the man's plan.

Dry your eyes and do not shed a tear, your brother is a

warrior and does not stand in fear. Give him a call or drop

him a line, he will lend you his ear, and all will be fine.

When it is time to leave this earth once again we will meet

on the other side my brother, my friend.

So until that time comes and although we are miles apart,

you will be forever and always etched in my heart.

Just read this again, and again must thank you for such a beautiful poem and tribute leading to it. I remember a children's poetry book my daughter loved when she was small and going through her inexplicable "scary stage" because it ended with ". . . and my brother is just down the hall." Had to let you know again what a great hub!

No He read this and didn't return. I had no mistake. and he is younger brother. He is not my real brother. I had no brother and I made him my brother. We were just like real sister and brother but a misunderstanding can break any relation how strong it may be...

AE--so many thoughts dashing through my mind as I read those skipping through yours. All written so well. I miss my brother so much I cannot express it most times. At the same time you made me so happy I've loads of photos of my son and daughter (13 yrs diff) now grown, when they were younger--and, yes, they are close in spite of age and father differences. I'm so glad my daughter has a brother! Thanks!

And what of our spiritual sisters living far away, and in other places? We still love, honor, respect, worry and pray for them. We care for their hopes, dreams, passions, and desires. We lift and hold them up in our minds and hearts, but mostly, we hold them up to the father. Thank you, my sister, for all that you are, all that you do, and all that you offer to us.
