Burial Ban - poem for Anna

Updated on August 26, 2012
Source

if you could tell a lie,

to honour

a friend's last wish –

would you?

would you, without doubt,

make an oath to the clergy

state with fervour,

she was a convert to their faith?

you could say -

I clearly state her persuasion changed

many years ago,

we attended church together,

we prayed together.

you could cross your fingers,

to undo the sinfulness,

although you know the fib

is justified.

ignore thoughts of thunder bolts,

blasts of lightning and retribution,

it’s the same deity,

so how can it be punishable?

the teachings say - do unto others,

as they would do unto you,

- you know for certain,

she would resolve it for you.

and when you observe,

her head stone,

exactly where she desired it to be -

your cup will flow over with joy,

I guarantee.

.

Interesting subject, maj ... and if there is a God, and if he is like Jesus asserted, he would certainly not mind the lie. He is supposed to love all of us.

The lie was only necessary because of what men (and women) have made of Jesus's teachings down over the years

Anne - thank you again - when I wrote this I felt the way I could portray what I wanted to say was in this form. I didn't consider the reader and only now realise how much I was asking of them. Interesting isn't it? Fantastic responses -
