But Slowly... Ashes To Ashes

Updated on January 27, 2012

The clouds above him moved in slow motion,

then there was a moment of blinding light,

his eyes hard with restrained emotion,

his face was tight,

the situation was extremely dim,

a long, lantern shaped face, very grim,

the clouds grew thicker,

the air was thin,

he was sitting so rigidly

he could barely catch his breath,

dark demons circled and waiting for death,

what struck his face was one single tear,

as the darkness approached with swift simplicity,

and he knew death was near,

then the pain came,

he cried in a spasm of panic,

and sweat was dripping like rain,

then what hit him were the fears,

his eyes grew wild and swimming in tears,

in life he was a murderer, a cheat,

now it was time to face the heat,

he was totally insane,

and killed with nothing to lose,

and his death arrived with so much to gain,

life escaped his body in a wisp,

almost like a transparent mist,

his lifeless body still held on to the signatures

of sin and lust,

but slowly...

ashes to ashes and dust to dust.

I loved the unity of the composition and the easy flow. You have narrated the poetry very beautifully.

A thought provoking read! it reminds me of the old saying , "what you reap , you will sew" , this was well written and visual , you painted a vivid picture of HAHA! THATS WHAT YOU GET!, kind of scenario ! thank you for sharing :)
