Passion from darkness, A Poetic Journey

Updated on July 5, 2012

Passion from Darkness, A Poetic Journey

Authored by Amy Kay
Illustrated by Benjamin Earl Howen III

This book is a collaboration of Amy's written word and Benjamin's visual art. Each of them feeding off the other and amplifying in synergistic existence. It is an artistic record of their joint awakening. Although started as a joint venture, the primary focus is on Amy's words, without which, this book would not exist.

A quest to find love through awareness and enlightenment. These pages depict the first steps of self discovery, spiritual freedom and understanding of the universal potential in us all.

About the author:
Amy Kay (Amanda Kraft) was raised in Wisconsin, moving frequently with her father's repositioning of jobs. Due to the frequent moves, she found it hard to find her sense of belonging, being swallowed at times by bouts of depression. Searching for ways to cope with her depression, she turned to writing. Beginning with journals, and eventually writing poetry to reflect her moods, she finally found her release from pent up emotions. Emerging into adulthood, Amy married and had children at a young age. Ultimately her marriage fell apart after many years of turmoil, inspiring the beginning works in this book. As she pieced her life back together, her work began to reflect the wonderment of the love she had found for herself, life, and those around her.

Words from the Co-creator

As co-creator of this book I am a bit partial to it. It contains many heart wrenching verse that I feel most can relate to. Some will make you cry, others make you laugh, and there are some that are just off the wall. I encourage all my readers to explore Amy's world of words and share them with those close to you. You may find a link to her store above.

Thanks, Ben Howen

How we self published

Amy and I found a Company called Create Space which is a division of where authors can self publish their work. They offer many services to help in formatting and designing. Create Space is a print on demand company, which means as you or your customers order books Create Space prints them so there are no stocked inventory. When you publish with Create Space you have complete control over your book. Royalties are paid to you for your books purchases, They have a base price for printing and allow you to set the sale price, which they take a small percent of. they also offer listing of your title on and option to expand your distribution to other stores at a small fee. So if you have a book written or thought of writing a book but were discouraged by the publishing process, this place is for you.

I did the entire design for Amy's book myself using Corel Draw. This saved us from paying for Create Space to do it. If you plan to use Create Space to Publish but have little knowledge of book layout, message me here and I would be happy to help lower your costs.

Nice man, I looked into createspace a few months ago, if you're backing it I'll look into it again, and your book. Now I gotta get some sleep.

      Cool hub.

I never heard of Create Space but that sounds very good for authors who are trying to get published.
