By A Stream (poem)

Updated on October 9, 2012

Was warm autumn night she sat by a stream

To sing of the Joy which fashioned her day

Each beat of her heart it carried away

The bright evening stars took part in her dream

And as she sang on to stream‘s gentle sway

Each kiss of the night reflected her gleam

As passion ignited warm hoped to this theme

Her dreams of tomorrow were free to stray

Off in some distance cold clouds threaten blight

To cast dreams like this against bitter fate

Till moments like this will teardrops recall

This moment is hers comes voice of the night

The tests of the day will just have to wait

For lady who sat by stream in the fall

The stream gives lovely symbolism to the poem because it alludes to being reflective. I also saw hope here too even amid challenges. we all have dreams but we are tested.

      Very interesting poem.

Magnificent portrayal of the lady by the stream reflecting on the hard moments of the day while remembering the memories that make her heart ache but smile.

      Mh -

I just noticed something about your poems. If you take the rhyming lines and say them together (1&4, 2&3, etc.) the poem keeps it's meaning and even flows well. Is this on purpose?

In this work, I saw a beautiful lady in the form of a stunning tree covered in brilliant colors of its leaves and swaying in a gentle breeze. The tree was giving up its beauty as it awaited the dawn of a new season, soon its shedding of the lovely coat of its leaves, and knowing that one day soon it would return to the beautiful lady of the forests, once again to be the regal dame of the wilds. Well spoken, Mhatter.
