Mercy's Cost

Updated on March 3, 2011

I was pondering Mercy, while doing the dishes...this is what happened...It is a bit different from my norm, but...I heard the message, and wrote it down...

Life is a misled mystery,
a convolution of history.
Trial and error at its best,
the hit or miss of human quest.

Lessons then and lessons now...
If, to ever learn them, how?
Inhumanity will thrive
as long as humans, yet, contrive.

Injustice born within the heart,
darker that the darkest art...
reigns with hate as greed pursues
selfish want in callous ruse.

The tender heart that seeks to love,
shadowed and bereft, thereof...
ever burns, within, to be
The Truth that binds futility.

What great sorrow has transpired...
in a world so deeply mired!
Rise and chant for mercy's cost
before the Grace of God is lost...

Let us each, in earnest seek
a measure of the mild and meek,
and take a hand, in love, to bear
the burdens of this life we share...

Render with a heart that's true
forgiveness that transcends our view
and practice love in all affairs
that God may yield to Mercy's prayers.

Paul, most definitely! If each of us extended the hand of love to, but, one needy soul outside of ourselves, selflessly...imagine how it could impact the world!!!

Tndr- Way, way up in the comments you mentioned you can only change yourself (not the world). I think it is a true statement that, if we all worked and changed ourselves, the world indeed would be changed. -Paul

Very Beautiful.. God's Mercy is abundant and given for the asking. We in turn must show Mercy to others and stop looking away when someone is in need. Thank you for this thought provoking poetry. You are a Blessing.

Micky Dee, I know what you mean. I get discouraged too...the state of our world is frightening...each one of us has a responsibility to humanity, in our own little worlds respectively. Thank you, and blessings on you too!

LoraKay, thank you, for reading and for your comment!

Awesomely useful and beautiful! I get discouraged. I stay that way tnderhrt. We are ALL in "this" together and the "parties" ought to get it right. We have to lift our brothers and sisters up. We can't pretend that the folks at the top will act for humanity. God bless you!

      Very important work Tender.

I believe we're at a precipice. We either start caring for each other or we destroy one another, one way or another.

If we care, there will less of us that need mercy, ultimately. If we promote the ability to live our lives independently fruitful, with empathy, however we may seem different, and provide resources for those who are disenfranchised and/or isolated, there will less troublesome actions requiring difficult reaction.

The depth of your work has no bounds my friend...

PA, perhaps, yes, perhaps. I don't have the answers...and I can't change much but me...but If I change is moving in the right direction, anyways...thank you for your insightful comment and for the read...all I know is this...If I have any hope of mercy...I better be willing to give it, here, and now. Just what's been hanging out in my head to you!

A very thought provoking Poem Tender heart.

Humankind's inhumanity to each other is unbridled as one strives to be better, get further in life at the cost of all else in a self delusion, they are making the world a better place by self serving actions, that do little good and the most harm. Or actions committed through Self serving greed, and pride Proped up and made to seem right to the mass's by destructive acts in the Name of God, when God has no Hand in it. Yet there are those that shine bright for they stand up as beckons of hope, ironically it is in the worst situations they shine the brightest. They show what Mercy and Hope can do, for the true good of all. Allowing one to see that God hasn't completely left Humanity in disgust.

Perhaps if we learned to love ourselfs more as we are for who we are, we are then more open to loving others despite any preconceived faults and thus love could change the world.

Thank you, Mr.Starr...this is one of them "God Things"...

RHeydrich, Thank you. You are so right...riches of the heart are so much more valuable...I keep thinging, if every single person extended a hand to just one person in love, what a change would take place here on this planet!

janbee, you are just too kind my friend, but I am so glad!!!

This poem is absolutely beautiful. I wish I had a way with words that you do. I have studied history, both the world's and the lessons of my own. Those within this world that seek only for self are destined to lose while those that work with love and within God's love thrive. They may not be rich in money, but they are rich in spirit.
