Ceaseless Light

By Tony DeLorger © 2013

Drawn to light by giving hearts,

loving care and selfless arts,

I ponder how I get so lost,

when lights surround my meager lots.

When hope seems gone and dreams despair,

and plans profound of change aware,

all I see is vivid light,

in the loving arms of angels might.

The paltry sins of life's misgivings,

a shallow plight of doubt and living,

brings me to my own undoing,

a lesson learned and faith imbuing.

Alone it seems in mortal skin,

but souls of worth do follow sin,

to lift a mind to glory find,

and freedom take in space and time.

Blessed be the angels fair,

who bleed for truth midst despair,

and still give all for love and kind,

with nothing more than a giving mind.

It is selfless acts that make a heart so pure,

regardless of life's play, allure,

and in giving free the greatest gift,

a soul in growth is set adrift.

Thanks Sushmita. I don't believe adrift to be a negative, simply implying secure enough to be able to exist without hindrance or being limited. Those who give freely of themselves are experiencing the greatest freedom in their selflessness.

Tony, this is a poem of hope and nicely conveyed too, right from the title to the finish. But the last word confused me. 'Adrift' has usually a negative connotation- meaning lost or anchorless. So, is the angel of light himself being diminished by his giving away of light? ...I know you meant the soul is made free ..but also lost ?

Just food for thought; the poet is supreme with his creation. :)
