Change And How We Deal With It

Updated on September 7, 2014

I For One Fight It With Every Last Breath

I know change is a way of life

The way we learn and grow

That doesn't make it any easier

I look at life this way

When we are small change is constantly effectiving our life on a daily basis

We have no control over many of the situations

Parents often remind us they are the boss and what they say goes

Even though we never got a copy of the rule book

They keep on giving us new rules as we get older

With harder and stiffer consequences

Teachers that we have to listen to constantly tell us what we can or can not do

Finally after years of struggle and sometimes endless torchure

We are old enough to be the rule makers and breakers

As we enter the work world we see bosses and other employees also play their own version of the same game

Once again we learn to adapt and after years of trial and error

Finally have a chance to be in charge

To set the rules and make sure they are followed

Now you have earned the right just like your parents did

Others will have to follow your lead

Then out of the blue

You were blind sided

The rules have changed and they are not what you remember

Young adults want to be the leaders

They lack both experience and knowledge

It is not the way life works

We have worked hard to meet the challenge

Why can't the rules stay the way you remember them

It worked out just fine when I was growing up

I had to obey

No questions

A no meant no

No talking your way around it

Now as an adult and the rules change without notice

My life becomes a constant struggle

A few periods in my life things have actually remained the same

Day to day life became easier and more structured

We could expect a days pay for a days work

Over time our pay should increase because we wanted it to change

We had a say

Very few things turn out the way we had planned

For that I leave your one final thought

You do what you feel is right because you want the most of life

As change comes keep an open mind

Even though you were happy with all the plans you have made

You have to embrace change

Seeing life in a whole light

We can open up to a world that owes us nothing

For we make so many changes ever so slightly

That in the end make life the most amazing ever
