Changes In The Wind

Updated on May 2, 2012
You cry tears
made from drops of the sun
and they consume in their brightness
and I'm subdued in their light
unable to move
unable to see
beyond what's in front of me;
an angel is weeping
along with the world
and everyone's whispering
through their empty hearts

when all vessels are filled
every one of them breaks
pouring out all those tears
and erasing this place

Oh baby, they're only words
and we speak them thinking
we can do all the convincing
and trust can be built
on these delicate things

If my actions could show it,
then surely they would
never leave you guessing
even for a moment,
not that you could
ever be so insecure as I

My walls, they fall
crumbling before your love catapults
and my city is burning with desire
to make it right one more time

Let me just say
that reality resides
beyond the mirage of our visions

Our sight falls on the flesh of the planet
and we don't look past the horizon
and even though there lives beauty, within the sunsets
our eyes are still those of infants

Lord God, speak your truth
in all of its beauty
just one more time tonight

As if the Sun Himself
came down to the Earth
to face the wrath of His own creation
so that He might save us

Oh, how He was humiliated
and suffered at the hands of a traitor
and bled on our ground
the ground we call home
the ground that He made us

Through the taunting and laughter
He prayed quietly
Through the pain and despair
He cried to His father
to ask for mercy
for us
