Changes of Life ( a poem of greatest hope)
Although new events to come from a darker horizon, we seem unable to cope,
We all must draw from what we hold inside us, faith, indomitable of spirit, hope.
When tomorrows appear hard to overcome, we've reached the end of our rope,
Just take a look about us, at others hardships, our own to seem smaller in scope.
When life seems impossible, remember those who've written...our inspiration,
Shakespeare, Kipling, Keller, and Twain, greatest authors held in adoration.
When rising tides threaten us, many who've gone before us, their dedication,
Tolstoy, Dickens, Wilde and Shaw, words of wisdom, each admired quotation,
When all seems lost, none to lead, we must then consider how others to succeed,
Sometimes our nature causes us too late to heed, to assess in an hour of need.
Waiting till we are overcome, too late to act, must the time be perfect, to be exact,
As we see wrongs, to turn the other way, unbacked, avoid consequences, as fact?
What would Washington, Jefferson,Hamilton. Franklin to say, of our actions today,
Emerson, Thoreau, Bradbury, Hemingway, all grand inspirers in their own way?
Has the country regressed so much, reflects bad attitudes, not based on as such,
Should we ever forget, or use as a crutch, those before us, forever lose touch?

Magnificent gifts, grandest benevolence each of us are given, Life's precious air,
These to provide for the future, our beloved, to show our affection, that we care.
We must all strive to improve our lives, so that all thrives, wonderful fruits to bear,
This world, its people are one, human kind... everything upon this earth we share.
