Children and Allergies - Lighthearted Poem for Children with Allergies -- Who is this Al. R. Geez?

Updated on February 1, 2015

Clearly, having allergies is no laughing matter. Personally, I have been plagued with them most of my life, and unfortunately, passed this malady down to my children. As with many things in life, we can treat and treat, but in the long run, we must grin and bear it.

In an effort to lighten the mood when allergies are in full bloom, I wrote this poem for kids with allergies. I hope you and your children find it entertaining.

Who is this Al R. Geez????

Mom says I have him

Dad says so too

But I haven’t seen him

Tell me, have you?

He’s not in my toy box

And not under my bed

But whenever he is near

I get stuffy in my head.

I don’t think I have seen him

But every time I sneeze

My Mom always tells me

“There goes your Al R. Geez!!”

I have heard of kids

With friends of make believe

It seems that my parents

Have made one up for me!

I wish I could catch him

But when I run, I wheeze

Then I hear from Dad

“Watch out for Al R. Geez!!”

He must be very fast

And he clearly likes to tease

I wish you could help me find him,

That dog-gone Al R. Geez.

Someday he’ll be gone

And I’ll be happy when he leaves

But for now I must be careful

And watch out for Al R. Geez!

Haha! That's cute. My son gets allergies all the time; I'm sure he could relate.
