Chivs86 Poetry: Strange Ol World
Chivs86 Poetry - Strange Ol World
Its a strange old world we live with
things we have got don't seem as precious;
As they really are
till there gone disappeared,
when our time's test us
all in its own little weird -
One day were here,
the next were not
and nobody expects to hear
who's dead and gone.
When memories still live fresh up the top,
how can anyone expect their time to just stop.
When everything seems all fine,
Oh my god!
Must the happiness really die,
what I've got?
Because from what I've seen already,
well i'm shocked -
I can't believe that this has happened by god.
It makes me think to myself
How many more will I see alive, gone?
Before my time to go -
to the end of the road.
How many more of my old friends will I know?
On this earth to add to the hurt
that I feel already,
I hope that they don't.
Before my days on this earth are no more -
I dread seeing a repeat of this pain
I know for; the destruction -
of family, friends and loved ones.
My hope for them's the best in these days yet to come.
Back Story/ Idea & Inspiration.
I wrote this poem around May 2011, my inspiration was the tragic death of somebody I knew from growing up. Somebody who I didn't always like, but after his death it really made me think about how unexpected these kind of events can be and how precious the gift of life really is.
It's also a poem I hold quite dear for another reason, it's not the first poem I had published or that was successful in a competition, but none the less being the second poem that was offered publication it's one that's really helped me to recognize myself as a writer.
