Circle of Fire

Updated on February 5, 2015

Standing in this circle,

Fire all round,

No way out ---- no way in,

For me to be found,

Wondering, in the circle,

Why, Oh, why, I´m Here.

Fire all around me,

I stand alone in fear.

Flames are licking nearer,

Take my breath away,,

Close my eyes and wonder,

Will I see another day?,

Standing in the circle,

Fire all around,

Beginning to believe,

I never will be found.

And exactly right you are, Sir.

Much as we love History. this had nothing to do with witch hunts or similar.

Metaphorical poem Thank you for you kind words about it..

It doesn't quite seem a heretic at the stake from the 16th century but what it does seem is a nightmare of hopelessness so well expressed in your fiery poetic style friend, Dim.

Dearest Blossom, I had no intention of reminding you of frightening fires......

Thanks for leaving a lovely comment.

Because I live in a dry land where bush-fires often rage in the summer I saw this as someone literally surrounded by fire and found it very frightening - nowhere to escape. The feelings it must engender are told beautifully in your poetry.

Thank you JanHorner, for not only reading and commenting, but for summing up exactly how I felt at one time. These few words covered it and you spotted that perfect truth "alone" said it all.

Hi mckbirdbks... Always grateful for your comments. Thank you very much.

This is how I once felt, but as they say in India.. "This too shall pass".. and it did.

You have certainly described the feeling of things closing in on a person. Perhaps the winds will change course and resolve this.

Good to see you, and no, this was just one of those things, you know when words fall out. As if from nowhere.

Truth is , I suppose I have felt this way at some time in my life.

Thanks for coming over to my page and commenting.

    Take care.

Oh Dim, this is terrifying in it's beauty! You managed to convey such feeling in a few brief lines... I hope you are not feeling this way today.
