Clutching Failure

Updated on August 10, 2017
Source

You failed to be, the person to comfort me

You failed to see, the words I needed translating

Your beautiful lies, are what kept my hope

Your deceitful eyes, are what pushed the envelope

I failed to know, the truth beyond the doubt

I failed to show, what this love was all about

I failed to hold, you close to my heart

I failed you, and now we grew to far apart

Clutching a fist-like grip around

Those who tore me down

Those who broke me within

Those who fed on my sins

You failed to sing, the song of our destiny

You failed to lead, the trip to set our world free

Your uncanny will, left me here to die

Your painful thrill, left me alive

I failed to learn, the subject of hate

I failed to earn, the respectful mate

I failed to drive, another road travel

I failed to try, a paved path instead of loose gravel

Clutching a fist-like grip around

Those who made me drown

Those who took away my air

Those who said they would always be there
