Cold Wax

Updated on February 6, 2013

She came in the eyes of black cats

when the moon trickled blood

and all the constellations hid

their shame

as virgo was raped

behind sagittarius' cape

the stars shed their skin

and leo became a coward

again

She came in the shadows of knives

she was blind at night

for only the light

gave her life

when set just right

she grew

in my dreams

spoke from a tree

a fiery weeping willow

laughing and screaming

"I'll become your crucifix"

Her scent of butterfly nectar

poured illusions from buckets of gold dust tears

lips of red glowing embers

hushed little girl fears

she planted a seed in my belly

said, “Now just wait ten more years”

Tonight

I cannot sleep

black cats perch upon my window sill

eerie fairy's dance upon the ceiling

the flashing of knives

shadow

she kept her promise

as ten candles lie dying

.

hey epigramman..thanks so much my friend... appreciate you seeing the story unfold :) I've seen the weather channel... looks awful cold up there... too cold for me :) used to live in Michigan in the 'thumb' region, not far at all from Canada... so yeah, I dont miss those days... except when you're a kid... then it's all fun and games :) too bad we lose that when we grow older :( Thanks for sending the good energy... likewise - Stay warm!

Well Sir Eric .... I was going to list some of my favorite lines here but - lol - gave up - because 'they' are all of my favorite lines - each and everyone of them. Again you put the 'visual' into my mind but also the 'art' into your poetry - love this piece so much.

Lake erie time ontario canada 1:02pm where we are mid-day and this is the biggest snowfall we've had in over 5 years - I am snowed in for today and probably tomorrow but it looks beautiful if you don't have to drive in it - and luckily, I don't . Sending you warm wishes and good energy .

Debbie... thanks so very much... most of my poems tend to be pretty long, so it was nice to write a short piece :) I've never been good accepting compliements, for some reason, but your words warmed my spirit - Much love and respect
