Color of the World
The kaleidoscope of our thriving world,
a panoply of jewels in every inch,
is as priceless as it is absurd;
the range from elephants to lion fish
is beyond the most fantastic of dreams.
Even Kublai Khan was merely a sketch
against the colors bursting at the seams
from this green planet’s wide and varied stretch.
The gray smog, black oil, and brown pollution
are colors which will never belong here,
and yet, these shades are the ones chosen
by our modern brush’s wide, careless smear.
The pristine painting our Earth once displayed
is not yet lost, but in need of our aid.
