Come On Jump Down

Updated on February 25, 2014

You Know Better

Every day my cat does the same thing

She jumps up on the kitchen counter

Then I do the same thing

I tell you to get down

Then you hop down like you didn't know you weren't suppose to be up there

Are you playing games with me ?

Testing to see if I will give in ?

Do you forget from yesterday that I told you no ?

Some how you remember everything else you did

Me patting you for over an hour

Where the kitty litter box was

The sound of the can opener

You came running

Thinking it was a can of tuna

Our car pulling up in the drive way

You were ready to greet us at the door

Where your glass of water is

Even your little basket in the bathroom that you take your naps in

So I can't believe you don't remember when I tell you to get down

That leads me to believe

You are trying to outsmart me

Many things change over time

This is one more thing my cat and I will always have

That we won't see eye to eye

It makes me wonder

If she does this just to get some exercise

Wouldn't it be funny

If maybe just maybe this is her way of saying

I am here and I won't let you forget me

Nadine May Many times I wonder if cats our smarter than us. Instead of us trying to make them understand what we say we should understand how they communicate and talk on their level. They use less words and more meaning by their actions and attitude.Thank you so much for reading and commenting.

All my cats are indoors. I learned the hard way. They get killed by the streets or other animals. They don't know any better if they haven't ever been outdoors, and, even if they had, they adjust to and thrive with the indoor life. I've had cats who have gone through that. Anyway, I agree with you about the danger. I would worry all the time if I let mine out. It's a death sentence. Anyway, I digress. :-)

At any rate, you asked about my cats. Setzer (a girl) is going on 14, as is Simon. Oliver and Katie are siblings; they're going on 12. Trudy is 6, and Jazmine is 4. The last three additions were from people I knew who needed to find them a home. Sucker! haha. They are great--all unique! How old is Charlotte?

Michael-Milec I have had both outdoor cats and indoor cats. Unfortunately the outdoor cats are not safe anymore because of more cars on the road and because they like to roam they can be in danger. The indoor cats get the freedom of our home and don't have to worry about getting bit or eaten by another wild animal. Fleas or ticks that carry disease. They are also fed better and go for check ups once a year. They get shots and even dental work when needed. Thank you for reading and sharing your views.

      Hi DREAM ON

Vey entertaining, both writing and activity, never known to me. It was quite long time ago in home country we were keeping dogs and cats as free as by the nature they deserve their freedom to be outside - most of the time, especially the cats after awhile being inside they politely have signaled, 'I want to go out ". Here, forgive me my friend I feel bad for their imprisonment.

      Voted interesting.

      Good day.

Cats do tend to rule the roost, don't they? I think they like to be up at your level so that they can get some attention more easily!

b.Malin Ask your sister if she would like another cat. Cat for rent. Just until I catch up on my sleep. shanmarie I think my cat heard you. You know what's worse than a cat with sass. It is a cat with a big head. Oh well another day filled with excitement. Dim Flaxenwick A cat with personality and all the love they can possibly give. What a deadly combination. Thank you all for your wonderful comments and reading another true story of mine.

I love cats so much for their indignant attitudes and their indepence.

Loved this. A cat will do ONLY what the cat wants to do ..... and in his or her own time. LOL Fabulous.
