It's Coming At Me From All Sides

Updated on April 29, 2017

it’s coming at me

from all sides now

don’t get on bored

i will leave you behind

i’m tired of playing the game

going insane

feeding the cat

threatening him

he better get that

half-squirrel off the bed

i don’t want to

iron my clothes

park the car

walk so far

go to work

be a quirk

buy the food

not be rude

pay the bills

look for thrills

brush my teeth

still be sweet

put out the bin

watch hair grow thin

fix the boiler

bleed the spoiler

why should i

earn a living

clean the house

have a spouse

answer the phone

say hello

try not to moan

stiff upper lip

and all of that

try not to fail

check hotmail

pay v.a.t.

be taxed like me

say how i feel

always be real

cope with it coming at me from all sides

don’t get on bored

i will leave you behind

i don’t want to

breathe your smoke

rely on a toke

make a joke

to get me through the day

hang in there

get my rocks off

there’s the thrill

and now i have to pay

i don’t want to

be polite

be quiet at night

shave my face

join the race

i’m tired of being

strong and brave

joining the rave

being everyone’s fave

keeping happy and sane

while like the floyd

the worms eat

into my brain

don’t wanna play guitar

don’t wanna play the blues

don’t wanna be strong

don’t wanna choose

i’m not up to

listening to music

knockers on doors

playing my dues,

having a snooze

i’m not up to saying

what i’m not up to

i’m not up to

not up to much

over fifty years of petty things

never go away

as i get on top of one

another moves in to stay

i want to run away

from all of this

stay at home

and close my eyes

when i wake next month

it will all be gone

gone away

what can i say

best get out of bed

Nice Hub, Russ...expresses feelings a lot of us have in the morning...I used to have such, but since I retired I now have reason to STAY in bed in the morning...and that reason sleeps next to me every night....

Hah! Fantastic, Russ. Reminds me a bit of Shel Silverstein for some reason. Perfect for my mood. Just want to lay in bed for a few days with a smile on my face, sleeping and reading. Ah, to not have to get out of bed some days. And may I just say, having to give away your money sucks. I much prefer to hold onto it.

Absolutely beautiful. This should become a classic.
