Complacent, without Shift

By Tony DeLorger © 2103

confident it will last,

this smooth flow of life,

yet life is undulating,

like intermittent waves,

the lows and highs,

as constant as breath.

When life stalls,

we are thrown,

into the imbalance of uncertainty,

flailing, gasping,

grasping for stable ground,

our focus now survival,

caring deeply,

judging life,

its harsh resolve unexpected.

And we, indignant

for the inconvenience,

the imbalance

of a life thought blessed,

blame, displace our disapproval,

finding fault in the external world,

the influences,

having led us astray.

The world is very different,

from the heights of expectation,

and from the lows of abject imbalance,

and yet we live in surprise,

unbelieving the shift,

ignoring the steps

that lead us to disruption,

and the lessons of failure.

Life is lived through the gamut

of experience,

the lows and highs,

the building blocks of character,

the teachings of an omniscient life,

and we endowed by its grace,

explore the extremes

of our own possibility.

Let life roll over you like a gentle tide, and accept what it brings in crystal clear clarity.

Thanks FR; yes, I believe the trials are the making of us, revealing who we really are. Hugs to you. Tony

I think without ever having had any storms or fierce trials in this life, we would be so very shallow. Great poem and imagery!

      Up and more and sharing

      Hugs, Faith Reaper
