Completed Journey to a Dead Sail: A Poem About a Ship

Updated on June 23, 2013

Breaking through the chambered wall

Past uncharted destiny of schooling creatures

And that of many that kill to eat

Finding only the crystal of the sea.

Too much to notice, not enough light to see

Discovering new adventure further down

Watching only what the dead has conquered before,

Leaving what was to what is.

Creating a life we only dream about

Believing only to fantasize what we may find,

Beating the depths, cancelling prior memories

Only hoping that I find the beauty within these walls.

Compensating for air, traveling further beyond darkness

Losing awareness…..just a little bit farther; waiting.

Dead to the world resting in peace on the bottom

Living in a new world of tranquility.

For I only want to find what I came to visualize,

That simple pearl and crystal of the sea

Shedding the light to a new life

Once living above, now living a new.

Passing the chambered walls

To an all new world

Beauty, home, and resting place,

Creatures find happiness and us…sadness.

No more does that crystal shine,

No more does that wood float,

But living it still is

As a more abstract masterpiece.

The journey is never over.
