Continue (Christian Poem)

Updated on August 27, 2015

At first glance you may think,

I can never be

the person I claim to be,

When you spend a day or two with me,

you may seem to see clearly,

how far I am from what you hear of me

Hear now, for I will let you think all these things,

You're not to blame for all that you're seeing,

I claim and fail, and often time I do,

to be who I am now, a heart made anew

Let me be clear, so listen please,

for His power can never be disqualified

because of my inconsistency

He is at work and I'm a sinner, naturally

Inclinations and habits, I fight endlessly

Day and night I grow

In pain and deep distress, though often do not show,

For sin has been defeated yet it's still my foe

So take my apology along with my sincerity,

What you see is progress,

it's called a lifelong sanctification,

thus, don't expect any kind of perfection

The words I say, the things I do,

may be all true reminiscent of my dark past

If your eyes observe my struggling soul, hypocrisy you may see,

but it will not last, for my spirit is now woven in eternity

A working progress, often times a mess,

From His strength shall I give my best,

To walk, to stumble, to run, and be blue,

Bless the Lord for He will finish His work,

Therefore, I say, "I will continue."

The words of confession? " whoever is a believer in Christ is a new creation; the old way of living has disappeared. A new way of living has come into existence." - " and I have been crucified with the Messiah, (Paul writes)- and from then I myself have not been living, but the Messiah is living in me, and this that I now live in the flesh, I live by the faith of the Son of God, he who has loved us and has given himself for us."

If Paul can do it , I can do it too, you can do it too ; there is only one way right way the narrow way ...
