Contradicting Family Members

Updated on February 2, 2012

They're family, but sometimes you really wonder!

Love them?

You've gotta-

Even if they're not what you'd normally expect them to be.

They can be great,

Or they can contradict themselves.

They can make promises

And then revoke their promise to help you out.

Why even promise to help in the first place

If they won't help later when you need it?

It is very frustrating.

It is also a big cause of stress in families.

Families who have great communication skills

May not have these problems.

However families who have poor communication skills

Have more of these kinds of problems.

Families need better communication

And better planning with certain issues.

They need to be able to talk freely with each other

About anything and everything.

Only then will all the stress and frustration between family members subside,

And families will live and communicate in harmony with each other.

Hi Rusticliving: Yes, sometimes you love your family so much but then sometimes you just want to pull your hair out because things aren't working right between family members. Thank you for the votes and for stopping by! :)

I can certainly relate to your words. Loving your family is what is needed to keep the happy balance between laughing and hanging them upside down from a flag pole! But of course, I would NEVER do THAT!!! *crossing toes* Great job! Voted up!

Great poetry and an awesome message. One issue that seems to test a family is when a loved one passes away, like a parent or a grandparent with money. Nothing can divide a family quickly than this. A vote up.

Hi Vinaya. Thank you for the advice. I try not to ask my family for anything unless they agree to help me with something. However, when they go back on their word is when I get frustrated. Why do they even offer to help in the first place? Thanks for stopping by!

Life is all about compromise, even so in the case of family life. Happiness does not come to you naturally, you have to earn it. Do not enforce your interest on your family members. The space of freedom is a must for every individual, and you need to know how to decline respectfully. You have to be considerate while judging your family members.

it should be the ideal family, but we're brought up in a different ways in which we have to abide by the rules...not following it and you're considered a black sheep...

      great hub Rani...

This is a very cute balance between loving your family and wanting to rip your hair out. Sometimes we need to take our families in small doses. Well done. Voting UP!
