Cooling Off
About Time
The days heat is unbearable and climbing
My shirt sticks to my skin like warm chocolate melted in its wrapper
As my sweat beads on my pores
I am drenched as the seconds turn to minutes
My lips become parched as my throat becomes dryer than a piece of driftwood baking in the sun
What I would do for a breeze that would blow against my face
A cold drink that cools my whole body instantly
A swim in the water that would tickle every part of my skin with delight
Instead I wait
Putting every thought I hold into a fish bowl
So that they may float in the water so desperately I desire
Comforted by the wetness and the beauty of renewed vitality so they can live
As my head aches and the pain increases constantly
Dizzy and confused I am far from amuzed
Will this day ever end
