Cooling Off

Updated on July 23, 2012

About Time

The days heat is unbearable and climbing

My shirt sticks to my skin like warm chocolate melted in its wrapper

As my sweat beads on my pores

I am drenched as the seconds turn to minutes

My lips become parched as my throat becomes dryer than a piece of driftwood baking in the sun

What I would do for a breeze that would blow against my face

A cold drink that cools my whole body instantly

A swim in the water that would tickle every part of my skin with delight

Instead I wait

Putting every thought I hold into a fish bowl

So that they may float in the water so desperately I desire

Comforted by the wetness and the beauty of renewed vitality so they can live

As my head aches and the pain increases constantly

Dizzy and confused I am far from amuzed

Will this day ever end

It sounds like you need to invest in air conditioning. LOL. I feel for you, because i can't stand being hot either.

kj force You got me.I will try your spritz idea.I love the seasons and of course when the snow first comes then I can't wait till it goes. You made me cooler by sharing ideas and a nice dip in the pool. What wonderful thoughts and I know there are many more where they came from.Lets see them spring into action like a waterfall that gives off so much beauty and can be shared by all.Turn on the air conditioners lets see how fast you can cool me.Enjoy your day.

DREAM ON....We also are " hot " here...however, we have a pool and at other times I spritz with Lemon or Cucumber water...better hot than snow and cold...oh, if only we could switch them as needed...liked the poem, but your words made me sweat ! you thought I was going to say hot..didn't you ? heheheh

Dream On...are you in Kansas???? LOLO....I have certainly felt this way....Now I understand those advertisements about cold drinks and beer, which show ice and frost and a freezing environment. I remember, watching such commercials as I sat, baking in the midday sun. Boy oh boy, have you said it! "I feel your pain!"
