Cost of a human life- Poem

Updated on March 7, 2013

In the hours of night when the world is sound asleep

Somewhere a girl looks out her window & silently weeps.

The sky looks dark without a ray of hope

She embraces herself trying to cope.

She looks in the mirror & sees a face full of innocence

But Her eyes look haunted with tragic and grievance.

She goes around the day being strong and brave

When night comes along for her parents she craves.

She screams to God to answer her prayers

She pleads & cries to have what was once hers.

But there is no regaining or replacement for what she has lost

Thats how much a human life costs!

@F- It seems people today all hide themselves. Mainly because its easier to fake smiles and go around pretending everything is fine than give reasons for whats hurting us so much. Its sad but true.

Thank you for reading. Your comments are much appreciated.

Take care and have a nice day :)

      These lines blew me away:

"She goes around the day being strong and brave

When night comes along for her parents she craves."

Mainly because I knew a person who was like this. Someone who had the most charming personality, someone who was one of the nicest of people you would come across, someone who cried into the pillows in the depth of the night when the world slept bcoz of being misunderstood and sometimes bcoz the world had caused a hole in their heart..

Its a lovely lovely piece of work Hajira.

And it is very nice to see you explore other topics too. Keep exploring. :)

A beautiful poem and a great selection of words...!

As you mentioned, loss is inevitable and we are bound to loose special people sooner or later and its a part of life.. when it comes to loosing parents we both are on the same page and all i can say is, look out of the frame of sadness and you will see a beautiful world awaiting you... :)

      Be happy!

      regards,

      Ali
