Creating More Good

Updated on May 5, 2016

Finding Ideas That Drive You

Relaxing quietly at home

Away from the t.v. and other distractions

Put on the radio and listen to music

Give your body complete attention

Tune in to you

I like to put on a portable heater

Making the room warmer than usual

TIme to unwind and relax

Sometimes I get a bowl of grapes for a snack

A tall glass of water by my side

I may take a nap

Lift my head up on a few pillows

Even put another pillow under my feet

Close my eyes and I'm ready to dream

I'm in my own carefree zone

Where thoughts freely come and make me feel better

I am the captain of my ship

I set the course

Bound for a feeling that makes my heart beat happily

Bringing on thrill by thrill

Like pins on the map

Each marking the spot where I will go

Nellieanna I use to think of every day as a conquest. In this way it would push me to a new high. Now I simply think of it as a secret expedition where I was only one of millions who was chosen to look, watch, learn by doing all I can. Having fun no matter what the outcome. Thank you so much. Have a fun day.

Nellieanna Taking any extra energy and turning my creativity on high. So pleased with my own accomplishments. I just reached 33 years at my current job. I have seen a lot of changes and it's time to pull out the good and leave the bad for someone else. Thank you for all your comments they keep me thinking.

Very wise, indeed, Michael. We can light our own candle to dispel the dark but we can't 'turn on' all the others, unless they ask for a light! And they may have to experience more of life before they realize it's dark where they are.

Certainly tending to one's own priorities and living one's own life is a better use one one's time,. which has its limitations.

Nellieanna I have put work first all of my adult life. I still do my job well but am less concerned about the overall picture of how and what others should do or not do. I am a good and proud worker but my attention is now more directed to my wife and our family's well being and health.I think I was brain washed and convinced myself that all the workers have to be taught the way I learned. It just isn't so. Young managers don't care and have their own views and plans. I come in do my job and call it a day. Thank you for sharing.

Nellieanna I am very happy to have your positive influences in a world that can be tricky and throw you like a bull relentless and unforgiving. Off to work temperature hit high 60's. I am learning to manage my time better. Some things have to wait. Priorities first. Thanks so much.

It's cloudy and even chilly here today. haha. So maybe I won't need to clean the glass patio door, since it's when the the sun is shining through it that the smudges show. I'll have a lovely visit this afternoon by a Hubpage friend who is in the Metroplex visiting some of her family. It's a great day! Eating my fruit, doing a little dusting and vacuuming and smiling from the inside-out.

Don't know about Lava Life cake. Sounds good, with no gluten or calories. I eat desserts only moderately and don't count calories. I'm a health nut, so I keep the overall amounts and kinds of consumption as a priority. Going for age 100 means staying healthy. A way to add value to each moment is to continue on with the best health possible and even 'knowing my limitations' (as my Dad used to emphasize since I tend to ignore them and to think I can do anything in any amount. haha).

We CANNOT actually 'get lost IN the past'. We ONLY live IN the present moments where we are breathing. When we so-called 'dwell in the past', what we are doing is using our awareness and responsiveness to our living 'now' moments for thinking about the past (or the future). We can choose to do that and it's not fatal, unless we block out our present to its lessons and delights which are living and capable of moving us for its own sake because it is our actual life as it's in progress.

We have the unique ability, as humans, to think about what has happened (past) or might happen (future). Other creatures can't do that. Nature didn't give them the ability to contemplate what has gone before and is 'fixed' and dead or what may (or may not) ever come in the future. But nature supplies them with enough wisdom to have learned as they went along in their present moments as they were in them - and therefore, to be prepared enough when they go on into the present moments which continue. Being ALIVE in the now is where the wisdom and strength IS, for humans, too.

The point is that it is not a huge effort or challenge to be aware of the reality one is IN right now. There is no 'happy medium' between past and present or future. There is only the realization that one is IN the time of one's life that IS alive and available. One can use it to think of the past or to contemplate the future, but one IS IN THE PRESENT at all times one is alive. s not optional or controllable. It is possible to ignore it or overshadow it. Bad idea, though.

You are doing great! Just 'keep on keeping' on'! Hugs. SHELLS.

Nellieanna I love to read but realizing that is the past and now adding a touch of passion and working in today is my secret recipe for my Lava Life cake. Rich and detailed on the outside. Light and airy in the inside. Surprising you think it was going to be heavy and lots of calories. Just the opposite 0 calories and gluten free for everyone who is diabetic. It is easy to get lost in the past and we have to find a happy medium. Thank you for sharing. The sun is trying to come out but the clouds keep hogging the sky. Enjoying this cloudy day right now in the present moment.

The best feelings are the good feelings one is experiencing in the now, because it's the real as it's happening.

Nellieanna When good feelings are only hints of the great feelings that are just under the surface. We do what we know. Soon these good habits become expected and celebrated daily. Lend me an ear I have so many feelings to share. Off to work and will respond to all comments with enthusiasm and richness really soon. Thank you so much.

This poem itself is relaxing, Michael. I can just feel how pressure drains from you as you unwind and let the calm and freedom take over!

I have many moments like that - sometimes, they're just fleeting, as I unwind from some possible tension which could take hold otherwise. Sometimes it's a lengthy one. And often it's just in focusing on the beauty and goodness in 'reality' itself, as you know! It transforms the ordinary into an extraordinary pleasantness!

Shanmarie It sounds great! Our lives are so busy there are always things to do. I spend most of my time with my wife just enjoying the little things. When I have some alone time I like to read and write. During the week busy at work and finishing up day to day chores to keep things running smoothly. Thank you for your time and your comments. Have a good night.

Sometimes a person just needs that undisturbed unwind-time! I like to snuggle under covers in a big bed all to myself for that kind of down time.to think. And then sometimes I drift off to sleep. I could get lost in my own thoughts for hours if not careful. LOL
