Creative Writing--Reflections On Writing--The Blank Page
The Blank Page
Staring hypnotically into the blinking cursor, reminds one of many things in life. Is the Blank Page a reflection of life itself? Or is it something more? Is life, although we may not know it, part of what destiny sets for us, or does the Blank Page represent more?
Many philosophers could argue all points of view, however, regardless, the Blank Page does represent something. Each person could examine the Blank Page as what they would like to be. Does the Blank Page offer a sense of hope or does it offer a sense of hopelessness?
To some the Blank Page could represent the "glass half full". For whatever reason and regardless of beliefs, the person has the ability to write what they want life to represent; a melody of new chances, of new dreams, and hopes. Others might see the Blank Page as the "glass half empty"; does life offer nothing more than emptiness, a marshland of deceit?
To examine such claims, one would have to wonder what side they stood.
Some may think more positively, while others may think more on the negative side. In order to solve this debate, life itself would have to have meaning. Each person has the choice of whether or not to decide life's grand meaning. Some turn to religion because religion offers a sense of hope, others may decide that life's pattern and or experience makes the decision for them. Regardless, the Blank Page affects one and all.
So What the Blank Page Represent?
Perhaps the Blank Page could represent what one wants in life, or it could represent the emptiness one feels. No matter what one believes, the Blank Page could give some a sense of hope--a page not yet written, a page not turned. One's life could be written in a way that was not originally destined in the grandeur of life.
Sadly, for some, the Blank Page is just that--Blank, empty with nothing to offer.
Regardless of destiny and/or fate, the Blank Page offers one a chance to start over--a chance to start fresh, a sense of harmony and content.
The Blank Page offers one a new beginning of life. The emptiness could offer some the sense of solitude to explore their inner most desires without interference from others. It offers a chance to begin each day anew, a chance to explore the deeper meaning of life, a chance of a hope that previously could not be reached.
The Blank Page, however sought, could represent the reflection of one's soul, or it could be a way to vent the frustration that bind each and everyone of us.
Despite the consequences, the blank pages is always more than it appears. One can either embrace an/or fear the blank page.
Regardless of one's choice, or how they see the Blank Page, the Blank Page will always remain a blinking cursor, unless one decides to change one's path.
