Crimes of the Heart

Updated on May 9, 2012

My only defense is emotional death
For the crimes I have committed this life
This persecution has carried my sentence wrongly
To sentence me wrongly to a former shell
Of what is inside

I love everyone at least the ones
Who love me, they tell me the truth they tell me the lies
They tell me of the promises I keep
These are the promises lying secretly
My secret crimes

Sometimes the world is falling apart
Sometimes I see myself shine in the dark
Everyone I love is everything I keep
That I keep locked inside
They tell me the truth
They tell me the lies

These are the promises that lie to me
These are the promises I keep
My secret crimes

So I awaken from my sleep of the heart
And all I can do is make a new start
Oh lord what will they say when I'm old
Forsaking all the love that I hold
Oh am I so alone
And your entire beautiful world
With all of its silver and its gold
Isn't enough to fill this empty selfish heartache
Oh am I so alone
So here I stand convicted
Of my own crimes of the heart...

Blakeford, your poetry is so good!

Being alone is sometimes a blessing.

Of course, if you miss someone, that is another story.
