"Crossing the Ice" by Eric Wayne Flynn

Updated on March 9, 2014

"Crossing the Ice"

A cold and lonely desolate road

Strapped with a backpack and a smile

Ready to walk the miracle mile

Left with nothing but prose

I froze

My life

My self

My will

Challenged by the stars

Another test

Subject to subjecitification

Bum, looney tune, with a soapbox and a broom

Ready to mop up any room

Or clean the shitter

We all gotta go sometimes

Shit I ain't bitter

And I ain't better

In my opinion

It's me and you and we in it together

Whatever comes with this fucked up weather

Warning us to love each other and make amends

Shits shitty and getting shittier

I don't give a one, stepping on the sun to get a tan

Crossing the ice i saw this crazy man

Falling through and laughing

Waving goodbye

Saying hello

Never leaving my side

A child's eyes

Full of wonder

He wanted to see what was underneath it all
